Sorry lads but none of that stuff. Kiwisaver in aggressive. Shares via Hatch for my US dollar ones, Shearsies for NZ and Aussie ones. My share market playing is not with big numbers, more just dabbling as the experts are far better at it than me. Recently we pulled a few investments to buy rural stuff. I think while returns have been good over the last few years thats about to end. So we've decided the 'returns' we'll get from the rural stuff out weighs the $$ returns. I cant think of a worse senario than lieing on my death bed thinking I have a billion dollars in the bank, Id far rather be remembering pulling that lever on the new tractor trying to work it what it does and how it ended with me hanging onto the bugger as we barrel out of control into my new lake..sorry new 'water garden'. I have told my kids thier only chance of any inheritance is if I go long before thier mother. If she goes first the best they can hope for is a couple of motorbikes and possibly a wet tractor. perfect a SKI ( Spending Kids inheritance) holiday is better than KIS ( Kids inheriting Shitloads)will! And you are correct on the investment front . It's gunna hurt soon Just count the number of summers you have left and divide that into your dosh/ savings and blow the result per year. Nobody goes to heaven and Says... " Gee I wish I worked harder"

Anyone notice a pattern here.. My view is if you have "portable" investments you should be placing them in overseas currency denominated investments

I am a buy and hold guy. Mix of big US companies. I am up about 59% over 5 years, only just out performing the market, lol. I bought a market index ETF when I first bought some USA shares so I could see how I was doing. Should have just put it all in the index or Apple (up 100%)

How has the hatch and sharesie worked out for you,? Yeah OK, only dabbling with bits n bods. Sharesies up 73%. A mix of this that and some weird, mostly NZX but a hint of Aussie and US.
Hatch about even. New battery and power systems tech is holding back the other who are on a run and being lead by Exon Mobile, which was up 43% as of an hour ago.
I've started looking harder at the naughty options, the ones that don't give Unicorns blowjobs or sequester a gazillion tonnes of carbon a minute, most of those are 90% hype, 5% scams and 5% maybe something of value but few pay any dividend or show much reliable growth. So now dabbling a lot more in things along the lines of old school fuels, gun and titties. All 3 are in huge demand and will be for a very long time.
Our main stash is in the green economy, that's where the big bucks are...or were, I sense a wee slowdown over the last year or so. I think it's a covid thing but it may have legs, well see.

Well my KiwiSaver has lost 6% in the last month and a half yet I only have 2 years to retirement... And I can't see the markets Bouncing back quickly.
The way my accounts losing money at the moment I can see myself with fuckall left in my account.
so what's the option for me.
suck it up and see
put into a cash account
Or try and get the rules changed.
After all, if I had my money now I could invest it in a normal deposit bank account and be making 2.5%... so much for Banks using an active management philosophy if I can do better than they can.
