Elimination is pretty much never achieved. Effective vaccines mean that the immune response basically nullifies the virus. Ineffective vaccines don’t ie covid vaccines.
The antivirals are apparently effective at reducing the impact. Yet they are difficult to get unless you meet specific criteria.
