Maybe I should just pass it on to the Tenants, pretty sure that's what Labour intended me to do when they fucked with the economy.

Received my house insurance renewal, up 33% Sounds like the premium increase is less than the increase in cost to re-build. When was the last time you assessed your rebuild cost and confirmed your cover was sufficient? The other year I was a bit busy when my insurance renewal came up, so I blindly added 20% to my cover. Last year I had time to re-check all the calculators and stuff, and my blind 20% was spot on. That was a year or so ago, so add another 10% to the rebuild cost already. If you haven't checked your cover value since you first bought the house (or at least in the last 5 years) then an increase of 33% will be about right, or insufficient. The cost of building materials is just jaw dropping. I wanted to get some ply a month or so back. Basic flooring ply is nudging $200 / sheet. Project got shelved faster than you can say "the Labour govt is hopeless". Plumbing fittings, don't get me started. Light fittings and electrical components. Those are just the things I've looked at myself...

Oh, and don't forget your house insurance includes the FENZ premiums. They need to go up, so the useless fuckers can fix their broken high rescue ladder trucks, like the one that has been out of service for 2 years, that they needed at that homeless hostel fire in Wellington.
Exactly why that isn't covered by our taxes is beyond me.
