Is Hippy a complete idiot (sorry for the rhetorical question 🙄)? Until now the imbalance of kiwi rights living in Aus would have been a natural handbrake on the flow of kiwis crossing the Tasman. Whereas the smiling idiot has just endorsed a new deal that will open the floodgates on kiwis keen to build a better life in Aus. Yes, in a social history lecture room it would be lovely to say “2023 was the year NZers got equal right in Aus, well done to both PMs.” But in practical terms, when we need every bit of talent who is prepared to get out of bed each morning and do something half-productive, to stay in NZ, this change will be the final nail in the socio-economic coffin of NZ. This will be a milestone for sure. But not for reasons the smiling idiot thinks… www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/politics/new-zealanders-in-australia-to-get-pathway-to-citizenship-pm-chris-hipkins-says-biggest-improvement-in-rights-in-a-generation/6PLRW4T7C5B6TAQD3A257OLYQA/

A little history lesson, in the late 90's alot of foreigners were taking advantage of NZ's slack residency/citizenship laws to use this as a backdoor access to Australia. The Howard government requested countless times that NZ tighten up on this but H1 refused. So in the end they said if you won't fix this we will, for anyone who was an NZ citizen coming in under the reciprocal agreement. What was kept quiet by the bleating NZ labour govt was that NZer's could still work towards Australian residency and citizenship if they obtained a 401 work visa

Nurses, teachers, police... why would you hang around here?
My old bosses daughter qualified as an Occupational Therapist in Melbourne. Her starting rate was $80k plus a car. Plus what ever the aussies do for medical and super. Not a lot of scope for salary growth over the career, but on a starting rate like that, who cares? Single 20 something can set herself up very well. Boss noted there was no chance of attracting his D1 back to NZ.

The NZ socio-economic tragedy really is:
1. A slow-motion car crash
2. Death by a thousand cuts
3. Totally predictable & preventable
4. Doubly-tragic for reason 3 above
Pick your own analogy….

Why wouldnt you cross the ditch?? more $$ 37.5hr week then overtime rates, mum n dad with child under 5 yrs if mum stays home gets a beautiful benefit,2003 was worth $280pw regardless of income can collect, tax rebates for employees. Climate depending on where situated
A part time teacher at their uni tech Tafe) was on $75 per hr hate to think what the rate is now,yep google show $83
Never mind that rates the google shows 2003 truck driver earnt close to 90k now 150k
Down side same hospital debacle we have. But cheaper food but beer cost more, bonus coke costs more than milk, cheaper fuel,no road tax on diesil. The list is endless.
Think the jump will be bigger if Nat/act get in.And winstone NZfirst latest poll %4 so he might get in,game changer if he does.

Not Winnie again ! Please ! He's the Party and the party is him. If he dies so does the party and NZ doesn't deserve his hangers on. He's the one man band that caused all this, despite what he says. Smiling assassin , smiling idiot, kind bimbo, and a grinnie winnie ...? Too much

We are still sitting on our piddly 3% and wondering how we fund government super............... current rate is 10.5%, going up to 11% 1 July. 1 July 2027 onwards will be 12%, no sign of 14% Contribution source depend on how you are employed. For wage earners the companies will contribute on top of the wage, for most salary earners the annual salary is offered a SGL inclusive, ie it effectively comes off your salary, before tax. Oh for the pre KRudd days, until 2008 up to age 50 you could contribute $50k p.a with 15% contributions tax and over age 50 could contribute $100k p.a. I piled all the money in I could whilst under the Australian tax regime.

Most of what I enjoy doing and playing with is vastly cheaper to do in NZ than it is in Aussie. That translates into my quality of life being vastly better in NZ than it would be in Aussie.
My motorbiking is cheaper, my boating is cheaper, my flying is cheaper, my taxes are less, the food I eat is comparable, the women I shag don't have an accent that is a verbal contraceptive, I can walk around in bare feet, I can sit on my rural dunny without something biting my ball bag, I have grass and it's green...the list is extensive.
I reckon most of the 'Aussie is cheaper' line is more myth than actual. There are a few studies that agree with me.

the women I shag don't have an accent that is a verbal contraceptive I assume the plural is meant to be in the past tense or Mrs GO30 might have rather alot to say

Wondered around the snowy mountains and river, never saw anything that bite or wriggles, from trout fishing to shooting roos, only time I saw a wriggler was at the golf course crossing the 18th hole, been up the table lands and only seen roos at distance. Last time over there,4yrs ago,3.50 per kg for broccoli not per head, lamb not 11 or 12 kg but 16 for a whole leg. The meat is ok,like nz,got leave it a week before eating as not hung. Ever brought a steak here cooked same night??like eating leather.Chicken/pork were at give away prices. 2003 earning $17/1800.00 pw banking $1k no problem, cant do that here. Only returned due to the "howard govt"sending out a booklet to every home."Is your neighbour a terrorist" Bomb threats. She said fuck this lets go. Hindsight should of stayed.

Spent nearly a decade in the 90s living in & out of remote parts of Southern Africa but too politically unstable to settle there. So no.2 on the list was NZ. Remember my first ‘bush walk’ around the central north island - was pretty scenery but boring as batshit compared to the frisson of danger walking in Africa.
Aus outback on the other hand is even more extreme than Africa because so many nasties are small critas whereas at least in Africa you can see them coming 😳

The last meat I brought cost me around $3.80 per kilo, not surprisingly it was beef. But we'll let it age for about 13 months from today
Broccoli is for rabbits, not humans, just like those angry little cabbages that refuse to grow up.
I can do you a hell deal on Turkey and Peacock breasts at the moment. Fuckers are in near plague proportions.
Snowy Mountains they would barely be taller than your average teenagers pimples.

Can do you a deal on chillies,harabaneros/carolina reepers or birds eye.
Turkey, yep may/june/jus\ly/august time for harvesting, can go to any country rd at night, walk up and pick up
Peacocks?? interesting. Want some possum stew or roasted?? never mind the TB,if they have TB you have a problem on your farm.
Snowy mountains home to one of the worlds biggest hydro schemes at the time, well worth a visit.
