In rural land I must admit to being pretty happy we now have a inside shower. The outside shower has been magnificent but them some arse fiddled with NZ time and it got both dark and a tad chillier. We've now even got a inside water closet. We be gettin real fancy like yous city folk I did just order a set of full polar fleece long johns, hunting cats at 6am is not as warm as it was. Only 2 or 3 left to get I think...hope.

Whats the old saying...... Rats deserting a sinking ship. Don't think so, the Kiwi boats are just looking for somewhere a bit warmer for the winter and will return in October Of course if this country keeps going downhill there may well be some making a one way trip outa here

It is so strange that you are allowed to do things like that now (sail to Fiji)

Local sail maker here is getting loads of calls from overseas from owners com8ng back their boats wanting new sails or servicing so they can go to Fiji “tomorrow” . Ain’t gonna happen , there’s a serious shortage of sailmakers in the country and a fair bit of interloft sharing of labour going on in Auckland .

Ain’t gonna happen , there’s a serious shortage of sailmakers in the country and a fair bit of interloft sharing of labour going on in Auckland . There are not many sailmakers left in NZ who will make cruising sails, just a few little guys. The big lofts all get cruising sails made in Asia. Like everything price of sail cloth has skyrocketed. I had Waldo make a new Genoa for me last year, during the Auckland/Northland lock down (orders of magnitude faster than "no hurry Murray" when I had to wait for my new main previously), as neither of us could "cross the border" at the time, delivery needed the assistance of a friend who could travel to the north

Yes I got mine from offshore. Literally half the price. And made in the same loft in Sri Lanka as the big brands.

Not sure if Sri Lanka will be producing much anymore with the state the place is in right now . Might be a good idea to support local sailmakers so they can stay in business and make us sails when the mega lofts offshore in 3rd world countries fold .

The below climate outlook is a fascinating read. Am trying to get my head around this warm, muggy weather we are having. Outlook for June to August is above average air temp for all of NZ, with high forecast confidence. Sea temp has been in heat wave conditions for all of NZ, with outlook being this continues, again with high forecast confidence. Also above average rain for the north of the North Island. Good for cattle baron's trying to grow cow food. Not good for sheep farmers trying to deal with facial exma (spelling?) Some fascinating discussion of the Indian Ocean Dipole, and the some other 3 letter acronyms of the Pacific ocean la Nina ratio's. Detailed discussion of the tradewinds expected over June, and their impact on everyone's weather. niwa.co.nz/climate/seasonal-climate-outlook/seasonal-climate-outlook-june-august-2022

"Rainfall totals are most likely to be above normal (50% chance)" hmmm how can it be most likely yet with only a 50% chance - this cattle baron doesn't enjoy wet winters one little bit as those big heavy girls make a mess of the place if its too wet.

It's all due to Covid, the war in Ukraine, those pesky petrol / diesel cars you drive . But not those ships that bring everything here or the jet planes that take greens politicians to climate crisis conferences. Nor the natural cycle of weather nor the earth's orbit around the sun. If you pay more tax and vote for labour / greens you will be saved

Looking at the current Hydro dam levels we need lots of rain and snow this winter
