AIS or visual? Yes nowhere ambitious with a young delicate family onboard but L Oneroa has drawcard of playground for the kids plus a pizza wagon (for us all)! AIS, big brother knows all .

I was wondering if you had a nice pad overlooking the bay! Different bay, I overlook Kawau Bay back a bit from Waimana Pt, I could see you anchored in Stockyard Bay before Christmas from my kitchen. My grandparents built the eastern most bach on Oneroa beach (2 Beach Parade) in the 50's, complete with long drop, but unfortunately that was sold in the 70's (it is still the original building with an extension), long before Waiheke prices went stratospheric

Im struggling to see this cyclone being talked about. So far Im expecting a strong fart like gale but not much more.
But it was OK for some rushed dock and marina line sales on Thurs/Friday.

After 2yrs finally got out(birthday present)no wind so gave us a lifetime voucher.covid etc so got out today on the boat that was originally going to be the Germans but ran out of $$ Allinghi brought as to spy . Great would I do it again YES. 80ft no perception of speed, though maybe 6/7knts but doing 10/11 on the wind,Gennaker time,3 or 4 knts, nah 8+. You get to Grind/steer,very responsive. Throughly enjoyed it,most were from non yachting backgrounds, crew very very good and explained whats what. Shit who would of thought the boom,no fittings would weigh 65kg,titanium/carbon mix. Would I reccomend. I thought yeah this will be shit after owning /sailing ones own but totally different.$190 bit on the step side, but family got it 2yr ago for $90 grab one voucher. 2hrs

Yeah I’ve sailed the cup boats a couple of times and agree it’s worth going once if you’ve never tried it. Despite being hugely dated they still sail like witches compared to average boats - going upwind was like defying the laws of physics all the angles were so tight. And in a light breeze they just went 10kts every direction upwind, downwind, crosswind.

I am looking out a calm Kawau Bay, Predictwind observations says there is a 5 knot northerly at Martello Rock.
How many remember what was being forecast 4 days ago - it was rather different.
Just wanted to yet again highlight the Global Warming Doomsaying Climate Catastrophists reckon they can predict the weather in 50-100 yrs, but the weather services cannot even get it right in a 5 day lookahead!

In 2001 and 2002 Coastals in a brisk northerlies, upwind all the way to the Brett, the multihulls including Sundreamer thrashed them This was us off Tutukaka

Yup we had planned a daysail on Fogg yesterday with another family with young kids - but cancelled it due to forecast 20-30kts winds and dangerous swells. So we sat around the bbq instead periodically checking CG now casting as it showed 5-8 kts at Tiri and we couldn’t even see the leaves rustling on land. Seriously…
