Old news.
That's why the US have had to spend around 50 million notes trying to save the Bald Eagle. They have been slaughtered by wind farms.
I have yet to get my big solar array full up as I don't want to kill the ground under it. My new business is nearly done with prototype C which will make me a lot more power and save my grass.

Build a water wheel connect a pump, generator, and lathe too the centre shaft ( geared) and π₯ boom Off the grid and only maintenance is a a biannual grease.

I like nuclear and believe it makes great sense in the right place being managed in the right way.
But NZβs propensity for natural cats and our dismal ability to run the most basic forms of infrastructure means that nuclear is way too complex and dangerous to be setup in NZ.

Unfortunately Fusion energy has for the last 30yrs, continue to be a technology 10-20 yrs away from commercial viability

Many of them built by the sea for this reason.
Works well but you need to add in the cost of serious security against terrorist attack.
When I used to cruise the French coast you always knew you were going past another N-stations because the French Navy always had a Corvette patrolling up & down an exclusion zone. Exciting stuff!

Maybe one day they will get this across the line, maybe they will not. I have seen this a couple of times with metallurgical recovery processes. How long do you wait? There needs to be a better spread of research, especially in the nuclear to advance alternatives to the traditional "breeder" reactors.

Build a water wheel connect a pump, generator, and lathe too the centre shaft ( geared) and π₯ boom Off the grid and only maintenance is a a biannual grease. We have a dam up a bit and a stream low so I have a solar driven pump that will extract from the stream, or my 'no need for consents water garden' and fill the top dam which will then feed the drip lines to our Illciums (trees). I have sussed a micro hydro option off that dam and got info on a very good looking candidate yesterday. It'll generate goodly a,mounts with only a 2m head, so jamb 40m up it's bum and they reckon we can power a entire house.
All depends on the flow so working on that at the moment. We'll be OK on solar for a while and the trees like damp feet so I have room for some experimenting.
