I have seen this one doing the rounds. Trumped up to be something it isn't.... typical conspiracists spreading mis-information trying to upset and enrage their followers. Oxford council are installing traffic cameras on six roads that suffer from massive congestion. Just like has been done in most parts of London and just like what has been done here in Auckland with T3 and T2 lanes. If you pass through those roads in a car at certain times of the day and you don't have a residents permit or an exemption you will be fined. A simple Internet search for official details of the cameras and the rules will show how much misinformation the above is. Just a reminder 4km tolerance now not the 10km as was.
Read a report on trial cameras that photographed drivers ,one hand steering,no seat belt and phone usage. Once these are passed expect fines. They call it road safety??
Saturday heading to Tauranga. Mangatawhiri passing lane .Couldnt catch the guy towing a boat.Yet get up towards Maramarua golf course,white dots so can pass went round them as they had slowed to 70km,legal pass no issues,next minute double yellow lines by the northbound passing lane and bmw hacthback thing overstakes like we were stopped and forces its way back on to my side before head on. Hows cameras going to save those lives??

It's just facts, without the bullshit conspiracies No 2030 grand plan. No climate lockdown. The reason for the restrictions doesn't even mention climate. No special treatment for electric vehicle owners No physical barrier preventing physical movement What we have happening here is just six heavily congested roads, in a city where the roads were built in the horse and cart days and simply cannot cope with the amount of traffic they are seeing at peak times. And the rules will be enforced by the use of technology (camera's) with Fines for those that choose to break the rules. How's what the Oxford Council are doing any different to when the bottom of Queen Street got closed to busses only because of congestion? How's it different to the Bus lanes we have? How's it different to the Transit lanes we have? How's it different to the clearways we have? |

There are not six zones. It's SIX roads.
It's not to save the planet. It's for congestion control.
There are no electronic gates confining residents. It's cameras on a pole.
They are not locked in. Residents are able to move around freely, but they won't be able to use there car at certain times of the day without a permit.
After less than 1 minutes of research the first paragraph of the conspiracy-fuelled claims are debunked.

Nothing to do with the congestion issues in Auckland, London or Oxford or the traffic controls that have been put in place in those cities. Yes 15 minute cities, also known as properly planned cities, are a real thing. Working and living within 15minutes has immense life values. You're stretching to join two unrelated things together. But then that is where conspiracy theories start right... |

I find this slightly more concerning than oxfords experiment . At a quick glance it looks like nothing more than hysterical far left wing propoganda.. the sort that our very own Kate Hannah is trying to emulate with the disinformation project. |

So you would be ok if Brian Tamaki , Kelvin alp and graham Phillips decided they were going to run the country ? …and you didn’t vote for them because they staged a coup . highly unlikely it would happen here . plenty of people would be willing fuck around and find out if egged on by online armchair Che Guevara’s though . Actually all three of those guys above gave it a good nudge with plenty of encouragement from the sidelines and it didn’t end well . |
