What to say? Good bye democracy, it was nice knowing you. Thanks for all the fish. Ngāi Tahu will get guaranteed representation and decision-making powers on the Canterbury regional council. A bill ensuring two Ngāi Tahu members sit on the council passed its third reading in Parliament on Wednesday night. The Canterbury Regional Council (Ngāi Tahu Representation) Bill means the iwi's rūnanga can appoint two councillors with full voting rights to the council. While the 14 councillors will be voted in or out at each local election, the two Ngāi Tahu representatives are not bound by the same ballot. Goldsmith said the government was undermining the basic principles that all New Zealanders have equal voting rights and accountability at the ballot box. "That's a very big and fundamental thing to actually explain to New Zealanders: why they think equal voting rights for all New Zealanders is no longer appropriate, and why they think that basic accountability measure in New Zealand politics, which is to say every three years you can be thrown out if you're not up to scratch, why that basic discipline is being abandoned for those two council seats." www.rnz.co.nz/news/political/472178/new-law-gives-ngai-tahu-right-to-appoint-two-environment-canterbury-councillors

I am ashamed that Maori need so much extra support given to them for no other reason than a treaty.
This kind of stuff is like the white man pandering to Maori as though they feel sorry for them or are making up for Maoris inability to do stuff for themselves.
What self respecting Maori would allow such favouritism!?
If you can't do it on your own two feet then it's not worth it and becomes meaningless.
Stop giving Maori fish! And let the learn to fish in the same river as everyone else.... Or they will never progress.

Quote from W. Peters... Ar a time when many Maori, like many other Kiwis, suffer from a crisis in housing, health, first world education, and decent wages, Labour is busy dismantling New Zealand’s democracy,” says Rt Hon Winston Peters Leader of New Zealand First. Copied from here... thebfd.co.nz/2022/08/04/they-werent-elected-it-is-not-democracy/Well Mr Winston Peters, you dumb punt!!!... You Put The idiots in power!!!....
