I can see in your posts why you would feel safer there than here but than that is of your own making.
Personally I feel way safer here than there and there is no way could I do what I do here over there without being in a constant state of worry if not out right fear.
Warm enough here now, so much so I just had to buy 2 dozen more mobile mowers yesterday to knock the damn fast growing grass back.
I am glad your happier even if it is a relative term.

Geez G030, what are you getting up to in your world of bondage Use my local environment, both land and sea, and refer to Aussie sheilas accents as 'a verbal contraceptive'.
Doing both of those in NZ is basically harmless but in Aussie both are a bit of a worry if not fatal.

I killed it a while back now just removing the body.
Lots of things had made a home in it, one or 2 were a decent size.
Not one thing tried to bite me...got stabbed a lot though, it's tuff shit even when dead.
But an hour ago I got revenge....with just 1 match Snakes and spiders....the sneaky nasty fuckers
I do like a good bit of rump steak, handy it is cheap as chips. Good to see the Aussie price has come back a lot, its been way higher than NZ's for a long while. I wonder if that's farmer driven of supermarket driven. I hope its farmer driven and not like milk where the supermarkets are such total fucks they make the farmers sell it well below cost. A$15.50 a kg is very sharp price for Aussie.
I brought 900kg of beef yesterday. Paid $3.88 per kg.

$12.99 at the Aussie butcher yesterday afternoon, which is slightly ironic given the name of the place
But buying meet on price is just silly, buy quality instead.

That meat must still have the wrapper on at that price ;-)

In the quest to be planetary gentle we are using the natural wrapper that came factory installed, it's called 'hide' which many probably know better as leather 10 frolicking baby Black Angus X heifers. Another 22 due in 2 weeks.
Good looking aged rump thick cut, not average grade like supermarkets, at our local real old school butcher a few hours ago was $22.95 per kg ($19.75 Aussie).

more people than ever talking abut shifting to Aus, comments from a visit posted on BFD
I've just come back from a trip to Australia visiting family we haven't seen for 4 years. We lived there for many years but NZ is my home and we all have a NZ passports. I always saw a gap between the overall wealth between the two countries but in general it wasn't that big, a bit like swings and roundabouts. Well this trip was a bit of a shock. The gap is a lot more and really stands out. It didn't matter what direction I looked the general population are so much better off financially than here and there seems to be a lot less interference in people's lives from government Just a few observations. Food is a lot cheaper, even taking into consideration the gst and exchange rate element. While there we decided to buy a weeks shopping to help out and actually bought virtually the same products as we do in NZ. Overall the cost was around 25% less. Restaurants were about the same as NZ but weirdly fast food was substantially cheaper. For example a Subway Chicken ranch is $15 in NZ but only $9.50 in Aust. The variety of cars, and more upmarket vehicles were prevalent as was the lack of Teslas that I saw. We also went through a couple of show homes and it did seem that you could get a lot more for your money when building but that is more an impression than fact. I guess there are still swings and roundabouts and the grass is always greener but overall the impression was that people were better off in Australia. Apart for the above, the most annoying difference to me was the experience we had going through customs in both countries. When we departed NZ every carry on bag was opened, the queue was forever and it took over 30 minutes to get through. In Australia we went through in about 10 minutes. Likewise coming back home, customs in Australia was a breeze but landing in NZ at 11pm and being the only plane at that time it again took 35 minutes to get through customs and we were made to feel a bit like a criminal. I guess we were just unlucky or got them all on a bad day
We have a trip booked there in November, visiting Perth, Brisbane, Airlie Beach and driving down the northern NSW coast, will be interesting to see what impressions we form. I do know for sure their current Labour government is every bit as stupid as NZ's. Their economy has its problems, several major project home builders have gone bust over the last 12mths, at least clients have Housing Indemnity Insurance to claim on to finish the builds.

Heading over to Port Douglas next week, will see what the difference is up in FNQ. we are thinking about having somewhere warm to retreat from NZ winters in the future, Have been perusing real estate prices around Airlie Beach area, your money certainly goes alot further than in NZ.
