That's true but they don't have to be exclusive. ..
You can have a long life and eat bad shit in moderation 🤙... After all the genes probably have more influence..
But how much burnt meat can you eat?..... I'd rather eat fish or meat cooked asian style than nuked in a Forrest fire

Welding, syphoning fuel or diesel on skin.smokes dope,ciggarettes/cigars/pipes. drunk tea,yes tea is cancer causing, alcohol. eat red meat pork etc. There is not one thing we do or eat that is not bad or for us. Hmm fish contains mercury, not just sharks but orange roughy is now the most toxic of all. Intersting on the climate thread you say go coal burners. Moderation is the key.

"Go the coal burners" is a Positional statement on the people / countries sticking it to the CC greenies. Not the process if burning coal.
Moderation is key. And I to have done some bad shite too like you, but you just need to be aware of what is " in the bad shit" before going beyond the moderation limit

Wood for bbq will give you cancer of your stomach faster than 10 minutes nude at Chernobyl. THAT'S WHY we stopped the stupid practice! . where there is smoke, there may be a carcinogen called benzopyrene. www.epa.gov/burnwise/wood-smoke-and-your-healthYou're combining 2 separate things into being one nasty.
1 - When you burn things on a grill or BBQ or fry pan that there is a link, all be it not super duper solid, to stomach cancer. The fuel used to burn the food is irrelevant. 2 - As anyone should know, breathing in excess smoke, from any source, is hazards to your health and can be fatal.
If you live in a city you can ignore all that as the air you breath is chocker with toxins anyway. In rural the air won't get ya but some of them chemicals you use sure will...and your quad bikes.

And I to have done some bad shite too like you, but you just need to be aware of what is " in the bad shit" before going beyond the moderation limit Just stick a camera up your bum-hole and enjoy your steak. If you have colonoscopies regularly enough you will find any pollops before they become cancerous. Problem solved. Seriously though, you've de-railed what was an interesting thread bleating on about some minor element with a tidal wave of negativity. You have to die of something. If you don't want tasty steak, that is your decision, but leave us alone to enjoy a good charcoal BBQ without fear, please! PS, I have a little camera on a stick thingee that plugs into my phone. $14 from amazon or something. It came with a warning not to insert it into any bodily oriface. I actually used it for having a look up my mast, which it was very good for.

On pondering it over the weekend I'm going to add scrub cutting to my list. It's old school as these days you spray and just walk away. But we want minimal chemicals so using lots of sweat instead.

But it's hoe old you are and how much pain you "die thru" that is the " deep and meaningful" point of my argument! There's a difference between 87yo with a few Pollops and 60 with cancer of the stomach and a shit load of pain,! Also, since you carried on the negativity, I'm not stopping you BBQ'ing your brains out, but FFS be aware that " you might live to regret your stupidity when you have tubes up every orifice, while pumped full of pain killers, and begging for " the machines to be turned off" .. all while your kids are watching thier father die a miserable death .. just saying 😉😜😅😅😅

moving back to the original thread, it is good to see signs the community spirit starting to be rebuilt. I remember back in my very young days how so many sporting and social facilities, after the inevitable "let's form a committee", were all built by voluntary labour with no need to be concerned by resource consents, codes of compliance and all the other bureaucracy stifling us today. Ironically this new spirit is mainly in response to the draconian gummint COVID measures Interesting perspective on civil disobedience which in many ways is the driver of this new spirit francischristian.substack.com/p/why-civil-disobedience?utm_source=%2Fprofile%2F99301666-francis-christian&utm_medium=reader2
