Where are we up on the invasive weeds?Seems of gone quiet as though its no real issue for marine life or has bio security stuck their head in the sand and thrown their hands up.

Wait till after the xmas cruise and see how far its spread? It is not being spread by anchors. It's being spread by North Easterlies. You are very easily sucked in.

I know its spread by currents but how many cruisers will report where they found it,was where I was going. But we know the answer, say nothing and the problems gone right

I get you. I will not be reporting it and definitely will not be throwing it back in if a bit comes up on my anchor. It will go in the rubbish bin. Stupidest requirement I have ever heard of.

I took it that you were following the official line that it is only spread by boat anchors (and not tides and wave action) and after the Christmas cruise everyone would have spread it. My apologies. I doubt people doing the standard Christmas cruise will find it. It grows too deep for the average cruiser to see. Scuba, spear fisho's and the like would be more likely to find it. The question will be if anyone cares. Remember it was known to be at Barrier for 5 years before officially being discovered.

Seems to be a fair bit of give the iwi lots of money mentioned. Funny how the superior Maori knowledge missed it all, and their scientists don't know how to fix it. Can I make a claim for compensation due to loss of recreational facilities access?

With that farked up logic I can only assume they will want to close most of the east coast?
And maybe place a rahui on the tides, currents and winds?

Nothing has changed. That is a classic MSM article catastrophising the situation. There were no new facts, details or announcements in that article. Much like every summer the MSM will run alarmist articles about sharks at our swimming beaches, they will now run alarmist articles at the start of summer about invasive pests leading to the collapse of the Hauraki Gulf. Reading between the lines it appears that BioNZ accept that A) there is bugger all they can do to control it, B) Acknowledge to a degree that it spreads naturally on tides and currents and C) it is likely not to be as catastrophic as many of the experts are making out.
