You will just have to learn to drink chardonnay! You Socialist you! I've never needed Co2 for the beer I've made... Fresh, unpasturised, and much better tasting than the average commercial beer. On a par with the top shelf craft beers, and at a fraction of the cost.

Not defending the Govt here BUT I have stated somewhere here before and aquaholic should be aware cause he lived next door to the fizz plant ….NZ refining Ltd put it to the shareholders whether they wanted to continue to operate at a loss of circa $230.000.000 per year . Shareholders overwhelmingly voted NO , Megan woods did a tour of the refinery several months before the shareholders vote ….the CEO of NZ refining Ltd clearly stated they did NOT want to operate at a loss propped up with Govt subsidies and there it ended pretty much . Whether that was the right decision or not is up for discussion .
I know I’m not happy with the Govt subsidising one of the biggest companies in the world to smelt aluminium here especially now they are making a profit . I bet my left nut that the operating losses right now if the refinery was still operating would be far more than 230 mil PA and fuel would be no cheaper ….and some here would be screeching about it .
Again I’m not defending the Govt just pointing out the trees from the woods . sometimes I think some of you guys lose sight a bit of what is actually happening in some areas have very little input from Govt decision making , by all means have a vent but have a bit of a look around first .

Yeah does my head in that commercial breweries KILL the fermentation process to get an accurate alcohol % then re-carbonate with waste gas 😳 but they have to or they would be in deep shit with the authorities .

I'm not disagreeing with you on Marsden point 👉 what my issue is is with Ardern and the Greens stopping further gas production full stop. . Mainly Taranaki but also no more drilling permits everywhere! Without oil and gas production you can't have CO² production... So labour and the Greens are the reason your beer is $$$$$$$$$$ Asshats!

You may change your minds if/when the products once made here are,for whatever reason (say a war) no longer available.Cost will become irrelevant. Once NZ could house, clothe, feed, it's population mostly independent of the rest of the world. How are we going in your opinion now ?I'm told the pipes at Marsden Point are now filled in so they can't be used again .. Is that correct ? A friend in the army, now retired told me that the govt.subsidised Air NZ and kept it flying so that in times of hardship NZ would maintain access to the world if overseas airlines stopped in the event of world conflict.

I understand the refinery still stores petrol and uses the pipeline to Auckland.... But only until the pipeline needs costly maintenance.... Then they will supply to Auckland terminals

Isn’t the tank farm and fuel terminal at Wynyard gone burger ? correct, its all out at wiri, roscommon rd,Z,BP, etc some gets trucked up from tauranga I can’t see them chucking the Marsden pipes in the bin especially cause it supplies jet fuel to Auckland AP . Remember the cluster when the pipe was busted by a digger ? If my memory serves me right a Boeing 777 needs three tankers and trailers for a fill up if there’s no delivery by pipe ? Didn’t they do a hack at Wynyard terminal so they could deliver jet fuel there them pumped it to wiri then trucked it to airport ? Whatever happened it screwed up most of the north island cause so many tankers had to run 24/7 supplying the airport

Thanks for that mate . So I wonder if the owners of wiri and JUHI have implemented any of the suggested expansion ? . And where could a new possible ship terminal be built for jetfuel if the Marsden pipe gets decommissioned ? It’s important to me cause I’m going on holiday next year
