I'm not across pricing for these fancy electronic items, but as per the thread on kiwisaver and 'very high market volatility', I can only assume that the rapid changes in exchange rates around the world has opened up some opportunities for getting stuff in at good prices. The only bit I don't understand is a falling NZD is normally bad for importing. What I do understand though, is that UK's PM Liz Truss is a train wreck, and the pound has dropped far further and faster than the kiwi, so if you are buying in pounds, get stuck in!

I don’t need this plotter - it was meant as a point of comparison - but I’m tempted. Especially as I could pick it up ex-taxes on my next trip to London and bring it home in my suitcase to avoid GST here…

Yes NZD has dropped but so has AUD - and GBP even worse. The power of the US economy prevails (yet again).

Try to support local business....but. Needed new head for my razor. Couldn't find one locally but they could sell me a new one ! Harvey Mormon could order one in @ $65. Got it off Ali Express for $13.27. Probably where H/M get it from. Had a bit of this so local business gets less business because I'm not the only one working this out

This may be more suited to the general talk section, but is closely related to the Great British Pound exchange rate. Liz Truss does a Crazy Ivan, sacks Finance Minister Kwasi (The Chancellor) and changes tax cuts again. I can't work out if the taxes are going up or down this time, but the GBP has dropped some more.... And yes, AliExpress is my go to now. Typically the prices are 1/4 to 1/3rd what I'd pay locally. I can't even get a marine upholsery to answer the phone at the moment, tried 5, one answered, they can't do anything before Christmas, and would charge $115/hr if they did. So I'm learning to sew... Might do a thread about it for the learning. www.rnz.co.nz/news/world/476704/uk-pm-sacks-finance-minister-pulls-another-u-turn-on-tax-cuts

Yes Truss has replaced policy with “determination”. Which the markets won’t believe in either. Probably won’t last the weekend…

Comparing a unit on special with no tax verses one not on special with taxes would very strongly suggest to me Jacinda and Grant have hijacked Foggs account. The RRP is only $3 different between the 2 sellers. But no reason not to take advantage of a unit on special and sneak it in so you don't have to support nurses and doctors like Lustys do. Yes very much so
