looks like the wisdom of charles 2nd and the magna carta wasn't accepted as a reasonable excuse for plotting to shut down the national grid north of taupo wonder how long he'll remain a threat to society No, he's using those defenses to get off a $300 covid infringement. Isn't the magna carta a French thing? About as relevant to NZ law as the teletubbies. And who was Charles 2nd anyway. I think what he is doing is what you do when you are stuffed, and want to have some shits and giggles along the way. i.e. he is just wasting time and having a laugh.

we'll probably all pay more for power because of this idiot as they try to make the national grid idiot-proof Yeah a petrol powered concrete saw with a steel cutting blade would do it in 15 mins or so ….if you don’t mind a 200ft tower and 33.000 volts landing on your head ⚡️

Surely you'd get some warratahs or scaffold tube and throw them across the live wires at a transformer / substation? Transformers go bang easy, and take ages to replace. Like months and years. PS, I really would not recommend any of this, the chance of a flash-over from waving anything metal around those places is extremely high. I know the potential energy in those big transmission sub stations give the HV power technicians the shits. Put a spanner down in the wrong place and you can arc up. You wouldn't even find the guy if there was a flash-over from HV. We used to have enough trouble in London doing water main replacement when the labourers would put a shovel through a rotten 240v domestic house feed. They all had to work in flame proof boiler suits. Used to whinge and complain like stuck pigs, until a mate of theirs suffered 30% burns from a flash-over when not wearing his boiler suit. Had excellent compliance after that (no joke, true story). Edit, I guess the main thing that made this guy dangerous, was that he knew / knows how to do it without vapourising himself in the process.

www.rnz.co.nz/news/national/479858/graham-philip-receives-three-year-jail-term-for-acts-of-sabotageThere was one act of sabotage that caused a fire, and the total cost of repairs was likely to exceed $1.25 million. Reparation was not called for as the court accepted Philip, who had no money or resources, had no way of paying it. The Judge allowed a sentencing discount of 20 percent for his guilty pleas and 10 percent for good character. He had no previous convictions. Crown prosecutor Amanda Gordon said Philip did not show remorse

It's a thin line suppressing all this for all the very good reasons given(I agree). But where does it stop ? Probably how Hitler, Stalin, Mao et al started. Sooo...we have a similar government doctrine here so we're on the slippery slope ?

The suppression order has been shown to be too much. The order was reviewed, as they always are and the judge decided the full suppression was too much. And that it's good for the public to know what he did at a high level, but not the details of how.
We could of been told months ago that he sabotaged the grid, but the crown didn't want any of that information released for fear of copy cats so the suppression order had to follow the normal process.
Judge made the right call in the end.
Now the nut case "alternative media", that convinced the public he was a political prisoner, claimed he had done nothing serious and even got people to donate to his legal bill will be seen for what they are.
The irony is that these "alternative media" producers were at the hearings, they sat in the room and listened to the evidence, then heard the judge advise it couldn't be published or spoken about and still went out making up stories about his innocence, how he was being held without due process - blah blah blah - bet they made a few dollars out of the donations themselves. Conspiracy theorists love that shit, so many people were lapping it up. His happy band of followers outside the court with there signs about him being a political prisoner.
The year he has been in prison pending sentencing comes off the 3yrs 1mo he is sentenced for.

Poor Graham Philips! He should have ‘pleaded’ NOT GUILTY to SABOTAGE. He obviously did something – but the charge could have been “WILFUL DAMAGE” as who could prove that he was trying to destroy the infrastructure of the nation. I don’t know much about this case as so much information was suppressed, but I believe that the Taupo police had it in for Graham as he had perfected methods for making them, and the Govt Public Health Response Act, look as ridiculous as they are. Mind you, he’s already served much of this time so hopefully he’s not in jail for too much longer. Tracy L

For only 1.25 million of damage he can't have touched much more than the paint work.
