It's not just West Auckland. There are calls for better Police defense here in Marlborough as well. We all knew this was going to happen when Oz started sending their Criminals back to us. The Gangs from over there are a different bread. They are not afraid of serious Violence. And Gangs are big business drug suppliers now. They all work together. The Violence is no longer the old Gang on Gang fights, but far more serious crimes around drugs.
The three muppets on TV3 this morning talked about Police being Armed with a side Arm due to the 4 injured yesterday. So one was hit by a Car. OK, maybe a Gun would have helped. But the other were at a shootout and were already armed with rifles. Duh!

It comes from the top down. Jacinderella is being kind. Unfortunately she fails in the human reality test. Some people ,across the board, see any form of kindness as weakness and exploit it. Police Commissioner also appears weak. BTW disarming the general populace worked well didn't it ? The message of kindness and compliance obviously didn't get to gangs? Try negotiating with Police in Oz or US. They would laugh at how NZ police pussyfoot around....especially gangs.

The headline to this thread is wrong. The guy that set his house on fire and started shooting up the street clearly had mental health issues. Obviously he was mad, not bad. Suicide by co I believe is the medical term.
But, I blame that on the Labour govt and their complete inability to action anything they said they would do. What was the recent headline? They'd spent $1 out of $1 billion assigned to mental health? Fuckers.
Let the pile on continue...

Gang affiliations around the country seem to be growing at a fast rate, with more than 8000 gang members now officially recorded in New Zealand.
That is almost double the figure recorded by authorities five years ago, when there were 4420 people recorded as gang members on the national gang list.www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/gang-member-numbers-almost-double-around-the-country-in-five-years/MDXZ4BWDVO3P4I7CWWW6Y6UAPA/i wonder if gangs hadn't been so big and growing and ignored covid restrictions to completely to deliver drugsif nz/aucklands $6? billion covid lockdown could have been avoided or been much shorter? will A - the gov will ever look into that? B - if they already have, or in the future do, will they'll ever tell us?

It is a meaningless stat. Once on the government's 'gang' list, you can't get off it, unless you die.
So, if you quit the gangs, as everyone wants these people to do, you are still counted as a gang member by big brother.
