Year: 1900
Comments:
This is bulga. A stretched version of the Hartley Royal Suva. From memory somebody rebuilt the topsides, after a gearbox failure drove her into a wharf
Cheers for that as I’m not a sailor, just wanted the mooring that was sold with boat
I wonder if the guy understands how much liability he bought with the mooring?

My first impression was that it was steel but being a hartly I assume it is probably ferro? I'm sure there would be no issues getting insurance for it 😅 One hell of a liability to be responsible for.

Make a great reef though wouldn't it? I was thinking about this yesterday. With all the silt run-off from the shit weather we've had, the marine environment must be getting a hiding. Everything getting covered in silt.
Surely it would be a good thing to make it easier (legal) to dump shit in the sea? meaning to make artificial reefs from suitable waste items. Best example is the new reef off Napier they made with waste rocks from port work. All planned, designed etc complete with a rahui to get the reef established.
Imagine if you could dump clean fill / building rubble into the sea, all at one spot, to create a new reef? Obviously there need to be a some basic controls so that toxic items aren't dumped. Abandoned boats on moorings always spring to mind. Esp the ones the AF has already worn off. If it is a muscle farm already, it is clearly ideal for a reef. Just drain the engine oil, take off the battery, give the inside a clean up of non-organic items like bunk swabs, and smash a through hull fitting.
I was wondering about wrecked cars, but they will probably corrode too quick, and have too many toxic elements on them. I know muscle shells are now being dumped to form new reefs. There must be other waste products that can be re-purposed to something useful.

There must be other waste products that can be re-purposed to something useful. Start in the Beehive. And then move onto Auckland Town Hall. Just saying…
