Tut tut SJB, They are "safety camera's" now, don't you know? There is a chance that these areas are actually Watercare. There is a bit of infrastructure going in a few places around Franklin. Water mains and wastewater pumping mains. To Clarke's Beach, from Waiuku, and of course all the new developments around Patamuhoe, Kingseat Karaka areas. Via "safety in design" assessments, and appurtenances on the mains that may possibly need operator access or maintenance will need protection from the live carriageway. These things you show could be that. it might look mind numbingly expensive, and I can confirm that Watercare love to platinum plate everything they can, but if you've ever seen an invoice for traffic management, I think these little arm-co barrier thingees are probably cheaper to build than one lot of traffic management, and will save a lot of $$$ over the life of the asset. Oh, that and Watercare don't pay for any of this. The property developers have to put in their own mains, and anything else on Watercare's wish list while they are at it. The ones that don't are still trying to get consent 18 months later....... Quickest way to tell is to match the locations of these speed traps with the gis plans of new water & wastewater infrastructure in the area. The link below has the gis info on it, or just give me the addresses (or roads) and I can tell you very quick if there is a whacking big new pipe in the area. That all said, nothing stopping a revenue camera from using them ;-)

Edit, I only noticed you posted the addresses after I posted. None of those locations have water or wastewater assets anywhere near them. if the assets were new, they might not be posted to gis yet, but if they were new, you would have seen them being constructed and the speed traps wouldn't be a mystery to you.

All in the name road safety just like the CVIU dept safety.
Got stopped this morning, standard questions,licence/logbook then went through the light checking thing.(do this check before leaving yard) Yep all good to go.
What you not checking the weight?? "Nah no mobile scales"
What about brake check?
"nah mobile brake machine in Ohakia"
Guess then no steering check on bushes etc.
"No lifting gear"
So revenue collecting then??
