IPCA Investigation out today found the Police considered the Parliament Protest to be perfectly legal. The rioting only started after Trevor Mallard, Grant Robinson and David Parker had a "meeting" with the Police Commissioner and forced him to start clearing the Parliament grounds. The Commissioner states he was made to feel "uncomfortable" at the meeting...
Who can spell political interference?
Labour Party used state security apparatus to put down lawful and (up until then) peaceful protest.
Sickening in a Liberal Western Democracy.

Commissioner says he has nothing to apoligise for. But lets see what else comes out of the woodwork. This line is the one detail in all the MSM BS to watch: But it also found a number of faults by police - including a failure to equip officers adequately, and there were some isolated incidents of potentially excessive force by officers, which were being investigated separately. So, an acknowledgement that Police did use excessive force. Lets see how far they can kick that can down the road before addressing it. Remember when a cop shoved an 80 yr old guy and smashed his hip? Then, another couple of tit-bits, cops acknowledge they were woefully underprepared, so have stocked up on body armour, USA style. The IPCA's review of the police response highlighted the urgent need for more body armour. Coster said 150 additional sets of hard armour have been bought to be held in a central store. He said supplies across the country have also been reviewed and more body armour may be purchased later. www.rnz.co.nz/news/national/488359/no-need-for-police-to-apologise-for-over-parliament-protest-conduct-commissioner-andrew-coster

From Mark Mitchell, National Police Spokesman: While today’s report into the handling of last year’s occupation of Parliament grounds confirms that frontline Police did an outstanding job, serious questions remain. Those of us working at Parliament at the time could clearly see how professional, determined and courageous our frontline Police were. It’s good to see that confirmed and acknowledged in today’s report by the Independent Police Conduct Authority. Police worked hard and improvised, despite not always having the equipment, numbers, clear communication and direction that they required and deserved. This leaves some serious questions unanswered. Why did the Police Commissioner send a message to his senior team that a response to the protest was expected the next day, immediately following an ‘uncomfortable discussion’ he had with the Deputy Prime Minister, Attorney General and Speaker of the House on 9 March? Why did the tactics and operation suddenly have a change in direction following this meeting? Why were no records kept or available to the IPCA detailing the conversations between Ministers and senior Police officers? Many frontline Police officers felt political pressure had been used to try to stop a protest that was embarrassing to the Government. Why were officers deployed and put at risk in a rushed operation without the right equipment, not enough numbers, and knowing it was an impossible task? Why have Parliament’s Speaker’s actions not been addressed? The report makes it clear he acted against the advice of Police and his actions only inflamed tensions with the protestors. Why did the Prime Minister not inform opposition leaders that she had received a request from Police to meet with protest leaders in an attempt to help with a peaceful outcome?

The report is only a smoke screen so the pollies can say 'we did an investigation' when in fact the report was not allowed to touch the vast majority of the issues and actions that happened. Basically it is the Govt throwing yet more under the bus in an effort to hide their own actions.
Mind you I believe the report did mention that is one or 2 pollies had spoken to the protesters most would have simply left. That is factual and what would have happened.
I see the Govts shill, the ironically named Disinformation Project, is saying it was too dangerous for JA to speak to the protesters. My 52 cows can pump out that much shit in a entire year. If she or any other polly wanted to talk to the protesters they could have easily and very safely.

An actual leader would of gone and mingled with them to hear their grievances - even alone as 90% of those present were genuine kiwis. those grievances are steadily surfacing now
