If anyone out there wonders why so many firearms owners will not go into the register or do so in a manner that makes it useless, here's why.
To make it worse guess what I got from Te Ora Waka Firearms Heahea on Thursday, fuck!!!
Now I have to hide my firearms from the fucking polices incompetence for the second time.

Yep this is exactly why I haven't registered any of mine yet. Only a matter of time before I will have to though. Any purchase or sale is a "triggering" event requiring registration. I think another year? until purchasing ammunition is also a "trigger" for compulsary registration.

Sadly in one way or another most so called western countries in one way or another are going down this road

Yep this is exactly why I haven't registered any of mine yet. Only a matter of time before I will have to though. Any purchase or sale is a "triggering" event requiring registration. I think another year? until purchasing ammunition is also a "trigger" for compulsary registration. Oh hell yes. But as I was a tad slow I brought a new cordless hole puncher about an hour after the Register kicked in so I'm now in it. I'm getting emails from Te Waka Ora Heahea Firearms to do something as I have triggered them.
So I'll leave it a bit to see what happens with ignoring them. I'm told, not by the officials, if I go in and register one more it should shut them up.
You can't register anything to an address the system doesn't think there is a safe so when the Register gets loose it will be a shopping list of what weapons are at what addresses. I'm pretty sure when the gangs rock up to take them me saying 'Sorry I forgot the combination' will result in them apologising for the inconvenience and leave.......NOT!!!!!!! So my firearms now live at a different address than what is in the Register, still very securely and in a safe that's approved for all Cats not just a flimsy Cat A safe.
I would also argue that is perfectly fine if you believe the Plods propaganda around why the register i.e. it is so we can track who the firearms go to. If that's what it's all about then if I sold one to say a member of Head Hunters 'Labour Party Chapter' does it make any difference if I sold it to them from Hamilton or the Space Station? But if it is about the Government knowing where firearms are then I'd suggest the Government are being less than honest around it all.
It will be interesting to see what happens, if anything, if ACT get any power in the election. They said they would can it.....but they are politicians.
An hour after the above was written now and I just had a chat with a custy who is deep in the cordless hole puncher game. He is admit the Govts plan, he reckons it's very much Jacinda driven, to get get all guns in the register then change the laws to say you can only have X many, probably 2 maybe 3, and you have to hand in the rest. If there was a list of all weapons and there where abouts doing that would be real easy wouldn't it. Note, while that is speculation he is a dude who I think is not prone to tin foil and it does fit the bits n pieces happening so it could be very accurate.
All the more reason to register the minimal.

Sell your guns and buy a cross bow and poison. Just as deadly and more fun. Have you seen a hunting tip for a crossbow? You wont need poison. They are medieval... I was looking at a crossbow at Hunting and Fishing the other day. They say it's easily powerful enough to take down a fellow dear. Fairly heavy, but had a sight, rifle stock grip etc. Hunting bows are somewhat impressive too. I understand the velocity of the bolts / arrows are similar to good air guns.

I'm being told when you buy a cordless hole puncher and it is entered in the Registry before you leave the shop it is not entered in the Registry. I got the lastest CHP an hour after it started, we entered it in the Registry before I was allowed to leave the shop. A day or 2 later I got a auto email 'you've been shopping now enter it in the registry'. As that happened before I left the shop I ignored it. A week later the same email, the same ignoring, a week later repeat and another week after repeat yet again. Then came the phone call. A few days ago the phone rings 'wank wank firarms here, you need to register your CHP'. I responded 'We did before I left the shop as per the law, I would have thought you should have known that'. 'Have you gone into the Registry and registered it?', 'Are you deaf?. I asked 'Can you see the Registry?' to get back 'Sorry I can not answer that on privacy grounds', 'Whose privacy?', 'Yours', 'Dude I'm asking can you see it not what is in it, it is a simple Yes or No. Can you see the Registry?', "Sorry I can't answer that unless I verify you. What is you Firearms licence number?', 'No fucking idea', "Why not Sir?, "I'm at work and while on occasions I'd like to shoot some of my staff you probably don't want me doing that so I have no CHP's her....', 'Sir they are called firearms', '..here I have no need for a licence. Don't know about yours but mine have no cords and do punch holes in possums so they are cordless hole punchers'. After some utter stupidity as I wasn't 'validated' even though I gave then every detail they were looking at on the screen, down to the time it was entered, bar the licence number they wouldn't answer even if he was a male or not. So I said things to do and you're being a dick so if you want to chat like an adult trying ringing again while I try to remember to hold my licence. Today the phone rings again. 'It's Te Waka Ora Firearms here, we need to chat but first I need to validate you, what is your licence number please?', 'Are you fucking serious or just stupid, who the fuck are you?', 'I'm Rangi Smith from firearms', 'Sorry dude but as my details are openly available as all Directors are and you have lost all the firearms licence info when you left it unsecure in a empty building plus had my name in the email leak a week or 2 back you could be who you are but you could also be from one of the other Govt supported gangs. If you expect me to give some random the key bit of info they need to buy weapons by mail you can fuck right off'. Then I got a wee rant about laws and penalties followed by 'Can I have your license number please?', 'Not until you have been validated dude'. So I told them to send me a email on the addy in the Registry with photo ID of who will be ringing me and at what time +/- 30 minutes. They were not amused and got a little threatening before I cut in 'Sorry things to do, have a great day' and hung up. I think I'm on solid grounds with my argument so we'll see where it goes. I do love Govt Departments asking dumbarse questions, they are such fun toys and blend in very well with my authority issues Gun City Friday Special today is a Cobra RX Crossbow. 5 bolt mag, lever fast cocking, red dot site, 370fps velocity, pistol grip, a real knarly looking bit of kit. $699, no licence required.

Yeap, very quiet, deathly so
At the base of the main grip running up towards the front is a lever, you can see the magazine on the top. Grab the lever and push froward, lock again and you've just loaded bolt and cocked it. That take about a second longer than it takes John Wayne with his old school repeater so you could fire of 5 bolts inside 10 seconds, these are not toys and this one is mid range. Go top end and they are scary shit with 500fps and throwing 400grain bolts out with 4-5 times the energy of a 40grain .22LR.
I'm still gobsmacked that in all this knee jerk the 'wankers the be' haven't gone near things like this or some of the new gen slug guns which are also far more grunty than .22LR's
To save the question, yes I am stopping in later today for a wee suss, I think I want one and may try to slide a purchase thru as a early birthday pressie for the Wa who has expressed some interest in learning to use a bow. She'll see thru that inside a millisecond but won't have much to come back at me with if I do it just right

couple of comments from The BFD Another day, another leak of Licensed Firearms Owner details. This time a handwritten list of 20 LFO's contact details was found by police when they were responding to "people unlawfully being on a property". That sounds to me like a burglary being downplayed and makes me think the list is being actively used to steal firearms. The police and Firearms Safety Authority are denying that they are the source of the leak however they are the most likely source of the details. The firearms register really is going to just turn into one giant shopping list for criminals if this is anything to go by. It needs to be abolished forthwith.
Our local pistol club was burgled and the perpetrator was caught and prosecuted. During the investigation the police requested the names and addresses of all the club members. This was duly given. Then it was discovered that the list had been accidentally given to the accused during the preliminary full disclosure phase. The police refused to accept responsibility. Months later in an apparently unrelated event during a search of a Christchurch residence known for criminal activity, a copy of that same list was found. Police are incapable of managing LFO data security.
Any sane gun owner would want to avoid having their details on the registry!

Any sane gun owner would want to avoid having their details on the registry! That's why the Register will never capture the majority of firearms and many it does will have fudged details.
550 wombles working on 'regulating' law abiding citizens when it's not safe to walk many streets. A great example of how the Govts priorities are just fucked up.

So the register has been going for a few months now. Being a law abiding citizen, not that you have any choice, the new CHP was registered in the shop before I could walk out with it. Since then I have received multiple emails and a few phone calls to register it again, apparently you need to register it a few times. The emails contain treats. The phone calls have ranged from WTF thru to bizarre. They, single name no ones on the phone, would say nothing, not even answer this question 'Can you see the Registry?' as answering that will apparently breach someone's privacy. I got asked 5 questions to 'validate me', name, address, ph, email and license number. "Sorry you got 4 of the 5 wrong", "Nope I got 5 out of 5, you just have crap data on file. How do we fix that?", crickets........ apparently it's in the register so it is correct, I am the one who doesn't know his own birthday or where he lives. As a FYI, the address is a trap. The address they want is where the safe is according to their records. As much as I have said 'I don't give a fuck about the privacy angle, lets do this right here right now' nope that is beyond all 500 of the staff in the place. I've told them what it is when and when purchased, down to the minute but nope, that's not acceptable to do it over the phone as I maybe Boris the Russian or who the fuck knows. Why I'd be trying to confirm buying a piss arse .22 if I'm not me is beyond the Firearms Registery's vast number of staffs ability to even try to answer. So as it's not working I'm now receiving coded security locked PDF's. No idea what's in them but it'll be more threats. Try the register again this morning and Nope it still won't let me in to register the CHP again.
This is a classic example of knee jerk created waste, it needs to stop and stop fast.
In the meantime I'm expecting a visit from the men in Black or maybe the gang in blue.
