The taxpayer funded people at MPI / Marine Pests / Clean Below Good to Go have spent some of your $$ on a gis map of where marine pests are. As such I think it is highly important you use it. So far I've worked out that there are 30 different invasive species in Gulf Harbour Marina. You are seriously taking a big risk parking your boat in there! But for a comparison, I wanted to see how many where in Westhaven. Unfortunately Westhaven doesn't even get it's own postcode, and it lumped in with the whole Waitemata Harbour. What a festering cesspit, there are 112 invasive species in the Waitemata. Luckily, where I keep my boat up the Weiti there is zero. Even though I've seen fanny worm around. Although I think it died off with all the fresh water rain last summer. Oh, and they mustn't think the asian paddle crab is invasive Interestingly, caulerpa is not mentioned for Great Barrier, Kawau or Waiheke. Perhaps they need some more taxpayer funding to update it? www.marinebiosecurity.org.nz/marine-pests-page/
