Did it last night, make sure you put your opinions and knowledge in the comments, I had plenty to say about the effectiveness of Antifouling Paints, particularly in Northland, and the cost of cleaning and lack of practical cleaning options.
They seem to be edging towards keeping your boat at "light fouling" level, that would require cleaning every 2 or 3 weeks up north. Apparently Auckland can only service its fleet once every 3 years or so according to some assessment too.
I also noted that the scenario section is completely unrealistic and makes some huge unsupported assumptions both on cost, effectiveness and benefits.
I get the feeling there is some zealous bureaucrats out there itching to bring in new rules and regulations

My first comment in the section about half way through - Crikey, this is fast appearing like a bureaucratictic wet dream for the crayon munchers in windowless rooms and a nightmare for anyone that owns a boat.
Clearly set up by some wonk wanting to build his own fiefdom (which I also said).
And where the fuck did this question come from??

They have set up the multi choice questions to be self contradictory if you have any concern for the marine environment .
Like Cantab I had a good rant about effective paints , especially Selektope containing paints . It’s a no fuckin brainer , it’s a cost boat owners would father rather have over heavier restrictions or enforced hull cleaning . If the paint companies can’t be fucked getting approval the government should should front up and get it through the approval process . I would happily pay more for a paint that works than spend a couple of grand on some glorified water pastels that slowly wash off .

Oh gezzz, you can see what that will, be used for.
We have consulted and now you're gonna pay and pay big...but that's OK as it'll go to a mate of ours.
I took a big swipe at the marinas as well. If our boats live in uncontrolled pest nurseries and farms full of shit, then when they leave some of that shit will leave with them.

Considering haul out options are getting less and less and marine precincts are going i would suggest the more that full out this carefully thinking about there answers and comments the better. 1545 responses for the landing shows the boating fraternity is pathetic at standing up for what they used to have.

Have you even read the survey?? Whats changing engine oil got to do with hauling out? Income,none of their business same for sex,m/f or cross dresser who gives a fuck

Income sex so what don't disclose. Some of my answers below.
I can easily access a haul-out facility when I need to clean my hull - Disagree There are sufficient cleaning facilities in my area for keeping my hull clean - Disagree
What changes, incentives or regulations would improve your ability to keep your hull clean? The most important change is for councils to ensure existing marina's, boat ramps and haul-out facilities remain and are improved not removed, closed or turned into housing.
Are there any other attributes that we did not include in the choice situations that you think should be considered? All these scenarios are good but the fact is for most boat owners options are getting less and for some no options.
i didn't necessary ignore these attributes but thought more about what my options would be to achieve this in the future.
Is there anything else you would like to add? Yes i agree that boat maintenance and hull cleaning is important however, with the closure of several haul-outs and marina's now being developed for housing how are boat owners able to achieve this? With the closure of The Landing some boats are now unable to be hauled for cleaning. Boat ownership is up and facilities are being removed.

Orakei Local Board Public meeting this Thursday on future of The Landing hardstand
Ōrākei Local Board hold their next meeting this Thursday and the future of the hardstand is top of the agenda. It’s a public meeting open to all.
Details: Thursday 16th November, 3pm St Chads Church & Community Centre 40 St. Johns Road Meadowbank
The Ōrākei Local Board will receive feedback on their recent public consultation on The Landing. The majority of respondents submitted against the plan and there is a high level of negative public response to the Ōrākei Local Board’s actions regarding their closure of the hardstand.
Auckland Council’s marine biosecurity staff have recommended that the local board consider maintaining a limited area of facilities at the Landing for short stay cleaning and antifoul application. Staff from the Parks and Community Facilities Department also note the biosecurity benefits of a hardstand
Clear public support for a hardstand at The Landing Results of the Ōrākei Local Board public consultation on retention of the hardstand at Okahu Bay shows a clear majority (64%) support retention of a short stay haul out and hardstand facility for boat cleaning and/or antifoul application.
Will The Ōrākei Local Board give due regard to the public input they sought? Will they protect the Hardstand’s designation in the Marine Precinct specified in Auckland’s Unitary Plan?
The Orakei Local Board needs to receive the feedback generated by their public consultation on The Landing and revise their draft refresh plan to incorporate a hardstand facility.
