I have an entry for that. Saw this thing up the bays the other morning, thought it was a dinghy on its side to start with, then got a bit closer and realised it wasn't. Still not sure what it is though, think it's meant to be a boat?

Gezzz Muz, things like that should come with a warning Anyone know anything about the big good looking cruiser that has replaced a old 4kt shit box H36 look alike that is on a farm to the left when heading north just after the roundabout with the angry women in the middle of it when you come off the new northern motorway? The old shit box was there for ages and appeared to have nothing happening to it then 6?? weeks ago it changed to a 50ish footer that looks like it could be a new build or had a huge Xmas, with very nice lines which is now under a tarp.

The hull was pretty clean, maybe he got a stash of the good stuff. Something pretty tasty on the prop though.

This is a Spencer, either a 32 or a Saraband. Just been purchased and moved for Te Atatu to Algies Bay. Interesting / sad story behind it. Boat builder was building it, started 18 years ago, died of cancer 4 months ago and never got to actually launch it. Below copied from Facebook: Hi all, Im hoping someone can tell me a little more about the boat i just purchased. appart from what i know. like the year built , materials etc etc.. it is or was i should say a spencer 32. in 1994 it was brought from waiheke island buy a boat builder, a maticulous boat builder at that. in 1994 he sat down with spencer himself and was granted to permission and plans to make it fast and stronger. The keel was modified, back was cut and extended with a portafino, interior and deck totally custom made, 18 years of hard work in a shed in Auckland and it was 95% finished. The owner had built this to be fast and ocean going. Infact was planning a trip to Vanuatu this xmas, however suddenly passed away 4 months ago with cancer before he even sailed it. I purchased this from the family trust and would love to know anything about it as this is all i know. I cannot find anything on the original boat or design, cheers And: Truth be told, I think i have bitten off more than i can chew, I fell in love with it when i veiwed it on the hard stand. Compared to others that were for sale in this era, it was light years better , solid, and the workman ship is to the highest level..and ocean going... especially being an18year build..However my budget is now maxed and i dont want to see this just sit on the water and not get the finishing touches, its just been anifouled, approx $6000 worth of brand electronics onboard, gps/chart plotter, uhf, fusion bluetooth sound equipment.. shower, toilet, inbuilt fridge, cooker, fresh water bladder, brand new water heater.. have all the rigging , whinches, etc to be fitted, aprox 7 diffent sails.. Im going out to it tonight and will take some better pics, if anyone isinterestered , drop me a message and il send a couple of videos 🙂

Fish - can you get a message to the guy that I’m worried about it staying anchored there in the next few days of strengthening northerlies?
It was on a very skinny anchor rode when I swam past 2 days ago and the holding there is a mixture of sand and flat rock. It could easily drag onto Army Bay beach which would be an even sadder development to the story.

It’s called Mercedes, btw. The dinghy was / is being kept under the tree by the steps at Army Bay.
