In the UK many many election cycles ago, when everyone seemed to have lost their way, one of the major parties (can’t recall if it was Labour or Conservative) had an election slogan “Back to basics.”
And I can’t even remember if the party won.
But right now here in NZ that would seem to be a pretty good philosophy to adopt.

the so-called "progressives"
have no intention of EVER going back to basics, because that's not PROGRESS
true, they PROGRESSED more bad things than good, and somehow they don't believe that's their fault!
i think, they think, their job is to DREAM
and it's national's job to make those dreams reality
that's the only theory that i can come with anyway
that makes sense of the last 6 years of slipping backwards

But as we’ve seen with our own recent election - the ‘Progressives’ eventually get rumbled by the general population of ordinary people who drop any ‘progressive ideals’ in favour of the essentials of life (food, housing, transport etc). In other words the basics.
So yes the progressives might never talk about going ‘back to basics’ but as a result they will remain irrelevant and unelectable against other parties that read the room better and give the electorate the basics they crave again. Like a decent standard of living in return for a fair day’s work. That’s as basic as it gets and that’s what is winning elections around the world right now as the progressive Wokes become utterly irrelevant (if still a little bit noisy).
The pendulum is already swinging back.
