are we living in the twilight zone or what? www.kiwiblog.co.nz/2024/11/this_will_teach_him.htmlA 16 year old almost beat a man to death. Instead of being sent to prison for attempted murder, he “avoided a jail sentence and was given a stern warning to stay out of trouble or he’d come up for sentencing again.” The offending involved: Attacking the man as he lay in his bed at home Was armed with a crowbar Hit him in the face and teeth Fractured his leg so badly a bone stuck out Multiple bones broken, as hit over 50 times with a crowbar and hammer When police arrived they found the badly injured man with his face covered in blood and a fractured bone sticking out of one of his legs. “They hit me in the teeth … There was blood everywhere… They just laughed,” the victim would later say in court. His staying out of trouble lasted three months. He then robbed a man, stole from a petrol station, and resisted arrest. He went back before the same judge, who this time gave him …. 12 months home detention. Wow, that will really teach him not to offend.

This is not a police issue (Mitchell), they did their job of arresting and charging the little prick. The problem is with the judiciary who, under the separation of powers are answerable to the Chief Justice, Helen Winkleman, a Labour appointee, as was the previous Sian Elias. The responsible minister is Paul Goldsmith, who can certainly have a word in the ear of the CJ but cannot issue direction, that has to be done by legislation and making sure they do not leave any loopholes for the mainly woke judiciary to exploit
ps the victim subsequently died from his injuries!

Yes .Correct on being a justice matter but at the same time Mitchell did say if kiwis don't feel safer he would resign . Violent crime has increased.
Seeing how the guy died.shouldnt the thug being be doing a life sentence behind bars? Show what a joke our judges are .

well, remarkably quickly a new Police Commissioner has been appointed www.thepost.co.nz/nz-news/360493491/new-police-commissioner-tipped-be-richard-chambersexcerpt For one North Island detective, who The Post agreed not to name to protect his employment, Chambers marked an “excellent choice”. “I believe he has the backing of the troops, especially those that know him. He’s a very approachable chap. I think they’ve chosen well.” Chambers, who was known to many officers by the nickname ‘Felix’, would herald a “good refreshing change”, another officer told The Post. “We need someone tough on crime and the belief is that Felix will bring that. He’s streetwise and when he was district commander for Auckland, he was very well liked and approachable. “He’s very down to earth. Felix needs to lead us in a time like this.” The Post understands the nickname ‘Felix’ comes from Chambers’ running over a cat very early on in his career ‒ and a white stripe in his hair before he went grey. Meanwhile, a frontline officer from Auckland said news of Chambers’ appointment was a “morale booster” for those on the ground.
Sounds like the troops have more faith in him than Cuddles (aka internally as "The Lantern")
Hope he lives up to expectations

Today is day 1 Of no gang patches etc Law came into effect at midnight. First arrest was at 12:03 While that could be just for show, it would also appear that the Police are fully onboard with it and keen to utilise their new tool to maxim effect.

Interesting it coincided with the new police commisar, and good to see the first arrest was straight after midnight, that should send a message.
For the record, I'm against the ban. Obviously I can see why they've done it and gangs are scum etc etc.
But the govt has no place telling people what they can and can't wear.
In the interview that Plunkett did with that gang guy, he was wearing a BP tshirt with their logo on it.
But in the meantime, I hope the cops get stuck into them.

And what do they do with those with MOB tattooed on their forehead or bp?? All the cops got issued cheese graters and a BIG box of sticky plasters.
The news I just heard reckoned the arrest at 12:03am started with the dude giving the plods some lip. They approached to see what the issues was, dude gave more lip, the plods saw the emblem on the dashboard and boom. I can see the plods smiling as the thought crossed their mind 'a mouthy prick and now an emblem. Hmmmm, what's the time?.....yeah why not'

talk about "Catch and Release" www.kiwiblog.co.nz/2024/11/home_detention_for_meth_dealing.htmlA woman who ran a large methamphetamine operation for the Mongrel Mob and received a lenient sentence of home detention has asked a court to let her serve the sentence in Wairoa so she can look after some animals. Meth is a Class A drug. The maximum sentence for dealing is life imprisonment. She got home detention.
Stuffed reports "When it came to sentencing in March this year, the Crown sought a starting point of about eight years. Judge Bridget Mackintosh said an appropriate starting point was seven years. Hubbard was given a 25% discount for her guilty plea, and a 15% discount for her deprived upbringing and matters covered in a cultural report, a 15% discount for rehabilitation she had undertaken since being charged, and a 10% discount for the impact imprisonment would have on her four children. That brought the sentence down from 84 months to 29 months. An uplift of two months was then made for her previous offending, but a discount of seven months was made for the time she had been on bail. That brought the sentence down to 24 months jail, meaning Hubbard, who was pregnant at sentencing, became eligible for home detention and she was sentenced to 12 months home detention."
So she got a 65% discount. That will thankfully not be possible when the bill going through parliament is passed. What chance do her now five kids have of not turning out to be criminals also? "Hubbard’s partner, Samson Edwards, a member of the Mongrel Mob’s Barbarian chapter, was also involved in the operation, and was sentenced to ten months home detention" Also got home detention for something which can carry a life sentence.

The Minister of Justice Paul Goldsmith needs to grow a pair of balls and tell the Judges no more fucking around use the law to which it is intended. No better than Labour with Law and Justice
