I’m surprised we didn’t hear of more collisions with logs or other debris - especially after last year’s flooding. A few days ago, whilst anchored off Shakespeare Beach, we spotted a large log floating right on the busy direct line between Tiri Chl and GH marina. Luckily we had the Yammy 15 on the dinghy so we attached a tow rope to it and(very) slowly towed it back to into the shallows. I then found 4 big burly guys to help carry it up the beach above the high water mark. I reckon it weighed 200-250kg because 5 of us were struggling. If I’d hit it in Fogg it would have caused damage. If a fast runabout had hit it, it would have been catastrophic. www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/napier-megafish-four-men-rescued-from-sinking-boat-after-hitting-log/LXLHJX4X2RBN7OCN4UWEZE3IKM/
