I own so many vehicals I don't need to even walk to the dunny, but I do for the exercise, and as I'm usually accompanied by a load of some sort public transport juts does not work. When I'm load free I'm on a scooter which is massively better for the city and country than any bus ever could be and in multiple manners.
Last evening we were off for a feed at the Botswana Butchery in the ferry building in town. As we are just on the Shore side the obvious choice is the ferry or we have to F around finding parking in town and that's a head fuck at the best of times. Reservation for 7 so we'll catch the 6:15 ferry, too easy.... or was it.
Got to the Devo end and car parking was easy as. Walking our the wharf and the clock said 6:10, Ferry due in 5 minutes. The next clock a few metres later suddenly changed 6:11, Ferry CANCELLED. WTF? #1 for the evening. Why, zero info in any form bar the screen saying Cancelled, next Ferry at 6:45. So after a 'shall we now drive over or not' we decided to wait. We stopped at one of the places on the wharf and got a couple of beers in while we waited for the next ferry (with a good 100+ others) while thinking 'will it arrive?'. Luckily it did and a very chocker ferry headed to town.
Got off at the other end and went towards the office to get the tickets as we don't have HOP cards. The office was closed,WTF? Some ArmourGuard people were doing the gates (a question as to why ArmourGuard comes to mind) so I tapped one up asking he he was scalping ferry tickets as we needed a couple, he laughed. When asking what do we do now they asked 'Didn't you get a ticket at the other side? Nope, never knew it was an option as for decades it all happens at the town end. The ArmourGuard guys said buggered if we know, off you go have a great nite. So we walked thru paying nothing. WTF? #2 for the evening
Hell yummy feed in the BB. Had some fun with 4 older chinese tourist couples who got quite excited on hearing me say we have a Wagyu on the farm but they are overrated and a Hereford would rip one a new one with extreme ease. The couples were funny as, the feed was bloody good, the staff awesome and the venue nicely done. While I have no idea I do believe the bill would be a healthy size as well, it is not a place for the budget minded.
So ferry back to the shore. Got into the building and found a ticket vending machine which very clearly states on the outside 'no return tickets available'. No worries for us so we used the machine to find it only offers 2 different bus fares and 'return' ferry tickets to Devo, WTF? #3 for the evening. $32 return by the way.
After last nights exercise it is super easy to see why so many do not to trust AT or their public transport system.
Or can afford it, imagine when I was at Fosters when I ferried 5 days a week, $160 a week, No thank you.
