Well yes I went and brought farmed ruakura Kingfish and South island Salmon.Bloody beautiful. Scampi yeah well think its fish bait at best.

What was the price like compared to wild? Dont know but farmed whole king was $52kg but being farmed no legal size applies,appears mostly supplied to the restuarant trade.Was there a taste difference between wild/farmed? NO. Flesh firm. 1 fillet of king and 3 pieces of salmon fillet +1kg scampi feed 4 of us nicely $72 all up. |

If the Scampi were good then 72 all up isn't that bad while still being up there a bit.
$52kg Hmmm..... While not a hard No and I probably would now and again, I think there are other options I'd prefer to spend that sort of coin on.

Struggling to catch a legal one... Had a big boil up of kings around my dinghy on Thursday, was throwing all sorts of lures at them, do you think they were interested? Feck, they are frustrating. I managed to hook one, but it did a massive jump and spat the hook. Mainly rats, going nuts on bait fish in shallow. Managed to get a feed of snapper though. Snapper are so dumb, they'll eat anything. Kingfish, man they are frustrating. |

Sanford in downtown.Went snapper hunting today.2 hrs got more than enough. 10.7 lb to 4.1lb took home 14.filleted and distributed most around neighbours kept 2 for home. |

Unexpected trip out today,5 nice fat snapper,hard work but rewards worth the effort.Hmm maybe thursday out to cormandel?
