Was going to put this in one of the existing threads, but when we dig into it I'd say the scale is soo big it needs it's own thread. Turns out Michael Wood, the Minister of Filth, ex Minister of Transport, Auckland, and complete incompetence at filing his own conflict of interest reports - he is now the Head of the E Tu Union. Sorry, he's not the head, he is the 'Negotiation Specialist'. Interesting that after a career as a senior govt minister, all his skill and experience is good for is a mates helping mates job at the union. Labour have been increasingly joined at the hip with the unions, having a revolving door policy with employment of key figures, and using the unions to run attack adds and dirty politics on Luxon through the election campaign. I don't think this is a good look for Labour, they clearly lack objectivity and one could say can't be an independent political party - they are controlled by people external to the ones we vote for / elect. If you scroll to the bottom of the below story you will come across the details of the Minister of Filth in his latest incarnation. www.rnz.co.nz/news/national/513971/journalists-offered-radical-solution-to-save-part-of-newshub-patrick-gower

So just a case of the union movement looking after their own

labour are useless at attracting donations
so they are increasingly relying on the unions to fund their paid attack adds
in turn, labour pass laws increasing union membership
