expletive, expletive, expletive. Sorry, I can't add anything more constructive to the thread.
If there is oil, just gutting for the fishery and environment, from such a shit-tip of a boat.

My uneducated theory, having looked at the AIS track is she was breaking down / going dark ship and (hopefully) broke down and just drifted onto the Noises. The AIS track shows she stopped earlier up near Kawau / Little Barrier, and appears to have drifted backwards for a bit, then got going again towards Auckland, but on a heading about 20 degress south of what she should have been tracking, which took her into the Noises instead of down the shipping lane. Have to see if I can work out how to post the AIS track. Anyway, if she has broken down and drifted onto the Noises, it will be far easier to fix than doing a Rena and hitting them at 23 knts. The dark ship bit my explain the 20 degree course variation, if they'd lost electronics they might have been using an old fashion compass and forgot about the mag variation. How many people can still remember and apply "Timid Virgins Make Dull Companions, Add Wiskey"? Anyway, the above is all speculation, but a starter for 10.

2 of the 3 Kings boats said they spotted a rogue white ship bobbing around and couldn't make sense of what she was up to. So maybe it broke down, but that photo makes it look like it went right up onto it under its own power

View AttachmentMine is they were simply fucked up and lost it badly. I'm picking the cause as poisoning due to excessive exposure to Sake.
