Did you call it in? 0800-4-Poacher - 0800-476-224
When I've called, you get to speak to a person after 2 rings. If need be they'll get the police launch there in about 15mins as well.
it is an easy and quick process, exp if you have photos. I got a call from the fisheries officer directly and texted him all the photos I had. They deal with it then call you back to let you know the outcome.
I have spoken to a boat that looked identical, fishing in the exact same spot. New red inflatable. Had a safa type father and 3 teenage guys.

Yes they sounded South African. Sounded like they didn’t know and apologised and left. But I think I’ve seen the same boat around too.
Didn’t call it in but gave them benefit of doubt given they sounded genuine. But given what you say maybe that’s a mistake.

Didn't know, very sorry, thought the reserve was further south etc etc.

Guarantee they know the rules, just hoping not to get caught . Ring 0800poacher even if you maybe wrong, the person on the other end will know. Get a compliance officer there in time is the battle.

Called it in. They transferred me to DOC who deal with the marine reserves. Spoke to someone and sent pics including of them catching a fish.
They said I was 2nd person to report it today.
I explained I thought they were first offenders but now realise they are repeats. I’ve seen them around before now I recall.

They said I was 2nd person to report it today. I went down to my boat to finish some jobs, and sure enough, just like last time they'd launched from Weiti and came back while I was there. I got eyes on the boat and can confirm it is the same one (as opposed to just relying on your zoomed in photos). So I phoned MPI, hoping they could send a Fisheries Officer down while they were there. Got put through to DOC and all that. I did get some photos of their ute, including number plate, and the red boat on their trailer, hooked up to said rather flash ute, oh, and both their faces, just for good luck. Haven't got the photos to DOC yet, but will follow that up tomorrow. I'm hoping with the ute rego and photos of red boat hooked up to ute they can track these guys down and sort them out. Either that or the Fishing pages on FB are looking a bit dull and might need some pics for attention.

Here’s the DOC number to text their pics to: 027 204 8012 Tell them it’s the same guys I reported earlier today.

No idea why the photos are loading sideways. HT, I see you are doing the duties on the fishing forums, please feel free to post these, I was intending to. I can email the originals to you if you want higher res? PM me if you want. Number plate of the rather nice ute is QKN429 - a near new Ford Ranger Wildtrack X
