This one is a shocker.
A kindy in rural Manawatu has been closed down cause they don't have enough Te Ao Maori in the curriculum.
Popular kindy, happy kids, new building, safe environment, pet goats they feed with milk bottles etc
The kindy industry body says it is a nonsense. They got a specialist curriculum expert in who said there is no problem.
Ministry says:
The improvements needed were to establish culturally responsive practices in the curriculum; ensure te reo and tikanga Māori were an integral part of the curriculum and further promote educational success for Māori children; and develop an understanding of internal evaluation.
