Thought I'd start a fresh thread for this topic, I know we've been touching on it in several other topics. i.e. Keir Stamer imprisoning people for Facebook posts, Saint Jacinda's moves for anti-hate speech laws. Kiwi blogger gettign visited by police at night to check he is 'fit to hold a gun license' due to anonymous complaints about anonymous FB posts. The Founder of Telegram has been arrested in France, cause the French don't like what people are saying on his messaging ap. Either that or they can't control what people are saying. The phenomenal irony is that he founded Telegram due to Russia's crack down on communication platforms after massive pro-democracy protests around 2011-12. Russia's state security services had a major problem not being able to monitor and control what people were saying and hearing. They required Telegram hand over the encryption keys... I am fairly bemused at the govt reasonings for his arrest. Could you image the CEO of Spark or Chorus being arrested cause someone using a service their company provides was discussing or planning illegal activity? Or simply saying they don't like the govt, on a phone call hosted over Chorus's network? Strangely, I've been finding it really hard to find any information (on MSM) about the free speech crack down in the UK. Infact the BBC homepage looks like a carbon copy of any NZ based news website. It's like they only want me to read certain stories... (I have looked at other UK based news sites other than the BBC). www.stuff.co.nz/world-news/350391022/french-authorities-arrest-telegram-ceo-pavel-durov-paris-airport-french-media

Apparently it’s put the comms in the Russian army in disarray . That may be one of the bigger underlying motives . If anyone on here uses telegram can you tell us what it’s like ? At first glance from what I can gather it’s touted as a pretty seedy platform , almost a dark web of sorts .
AI and basement bot meme generators are going mental over it .

So pavel has a French passport and chose to fly there in his private jet as opposed the the UAE where he’s also a passport holder and a few other places too . Reading between the lines it seems like a defection . UAE is not safe for a Russian defector , sounds like there was an existing arrest warrant out on him that he knew about .

This thread has several points to make about Telegram and Durov Bit of a headache in Russia too . Head of RT “Russia television” russias only remaining broadcaster is telling people to delete any sensitive content they have on telegram . She fears Pavel is going to give France the keys to telegram . I have a hunch he couldn’t control the content because some of the worlds most dangerous groups and people use it for comms and income generation . I reckon he’s done a deal with the French for his own safety whatever that’s worth .

AI and basement bot meme generators are going mental over it . I made an account and log on during the covid information wars, I think when Voices for Freedom got booted from FB. (Or some freedom of choice group I wanted to listen to) The basic platform looked the same as FB, but I never got into it. At the time it was just too hard learning a new app. I think VFF may have set up their own website so it negated the need for me to be on telegram. I never got far enough into it far enough to comment if it's seedy or not, but to be fair trust in what I was seeing / being told at the time was low, and I was highly dubious of anything I wasn't already 100% across, so it may have been seedy and I wouldn't have been able to tell that apart from the 6 o'clock news, the Herald or Red Radio...

Meanwhile, some slightly more positive news from RCR Bites The Inspector General has released a report into NZSIS counter-terrorism work. It found that Section 19 of the Intelligence and Security Act, which protects Kiwis from government action merely for exercising free speech, has not been a barrier to NZSIS work. The report disagreed with the Royal Commission into the Christchurch mosque attack’s suggestion that protecting free speech could be a barrier to countering extremism
Certainly contrary to the BS that was being discharged from the podium of truth. No doubt the Mainly Socialist Media will be silent on this!

24hr real time access to all the worlds politicians communications would go along way to fixing alot of the worlds problems. If its essential for the private individual to be continuously monitored then lead by example and expose public persons first.

Dunno if you guys have the option in suburbia but with rural post you can go online and choose what ends up in your postbox . We chose no advertising of any sort . It’s bliss to only receive official mail . there was a shitstorm in a suburb near here when a chuckle fuck started letterbox dropping a radical newsletter and covered his front yard in incendiary billboards . I agreed with a couple of them but it really lit the community up , in a bad way . The local community FB page got really sporty which highlights the pitfalls of social media and political , religious views etc . A quiet community can be at each others throats overnight on FB because someone broadcasts an incendiary message via their front lawn and letterbox drops . which brings me back to Pavel , immigrants , Islamophobia etc . Been a bit of immigrant hysteria on these pages , telegram is popular with terrorists groups , you know like the ones in Europe/UK that are immigrants from Arab countries . Whether you agree with it or not France could setback the comms and trade of some very fucking horrible people on many levels not just terrorist groups . Elon can stick his 2030 prediction up his ass if his platform is above board .

Apparently Sir Keir Stamer has filled the prisons up already. Total prison population 88,234, spare spaces in all of England and Wales is 83. At the end of last week, the prison population stood at 88,234, up by 341 offenders the previous Friday, according to official figures. On Wednesday, UK media cited the Prison Officers’ Association saying only 83 places remained in men’s prisons. As former director of public prosecutions, Prime Minister Keir Starmer said on Tuesday that he “could not believe” he had to count available prison places to cope with those who had been arrested for involvement in the far-right riots which targeted Muslim and minority communities earlier this month. www.aljazeera.com/news/2024/8/29/why-have-england-and-wales-nearly-run-out-of-prison-spaces

Mr Fogg seems to have gone very quiet lately. Speaking out online has been known to lead to jailtime in the UK of late. Could be related.

Fun times ahead...
