So, after test driving one, is the car fine and the problem the type of driver? Sounds like you had no problem getting up to and keeping at the open road speed limit?

Drivers not told what eco power buttons do

Drivers not told what eco power buttons do Eco button doesn't slow you down. I have it on as standard. It just smooths the power output on acceleration. Remember how everyone else here was bitching about how EV's wreck the road, cause they have such high torque motors, sharp acceleration and can drag anything off at the lights? All the eco-button does is de-tune the acceleration back to a normal ICE car. I still say the issue with hybrids and EV's going slow is the type of driver. Typically the people who by small, efficient hatchbacks like to drive at 80kms and not rush things. Used to be your typical Corolla granny, now granny got a Prius, that is all.

why do 80 in eco when you can power up hill using power mode, boys has 3 modes, power, sport and eco and he stays in eco till a hill
same as my ICE when towing, take out of eco and use power, holds longer in gear less fuel used as not hunting gears in eco

Remember how everyone else here was bitching about how EV's wreck the road, cause they have such high torque motors, sharp acceleration and can drag anything off at the lights? In theory Wives promise to obey until death, but do they?*
Rode down with a BYD Seal yesterday. Not a bad looking bit of kit. In the tunnel I gave the Duc a handful as the noise she makes causes a need for cold showers. As I do that she accelerates fast, jumps up in 8-9kph increments. Mr Seal liked it and came flying up along side thumb up. We had a few 'how fast can you accelerate' goes, holy crap can that fucker go, most impressive. But I, and I was giving her all, was still a little quicker. On sussing once back that was 83kW ICE verses 360kW Battery and he as a rouge EV driver.
If only all EV owners drove to at least within 10% of the posted limit. We both got stuck behind a MG, with what looked like a ZF on the back, EV. It never exceed 75kph on SH1. Had maybe 25 vehicles stacked up behind it at one stage, the muppet.
* - the safety option is to not answer that question

* - the safety option is to not answer that question I wouldn't know, not married. Figured what more commitment do you need than two kids and an Auckland sized mortgage together? Can't see what difference saying some vows infront of a Religious man in fancy dress makes. Other than that I find the holly water burns a bit, a high proportion of people that make vows like that don't ever honour them anyway (as in, are divorced with a couple of years). PS, your BYD mate sounds like a mate of mine that lives up that way a bit. Is into m-cycles biggly back in the day, so a Duc with a noisy pipe would def attract his attention.

That's just shy of 900km in distance, must have been a very economical car. We drove our little leaf to Taranaki and back last year, was just under $60 to charge it there and back. At a guess it would have been $250 in captain kangaroo (commonly known as a hilux), plus RUC on top of that so ~$300 The leaflett was an hour slower each way as we had to charge twice both ways. Read - a PITA! Not that I give a flying farook either way.

Read - a PITA! Not that I give a flying farook either way. My Ducati would use a tank each way so be close to $60 to New Plymouth and back. So in a car 60 is not at all shabby.
But then I just do not do 'economical' or even consider it so my travel time would be considerably less.
My tractor has a ECO button. Absolutely no idea what it does and fiddling with it seems to make no difference. It has a battery but drinks dino juice.
