I’ve got a funny story about censorship….
Many years ago when I first moved to NZ, I stumbled across Crew.org (it was owned by Zoe in those days) and I thought great! I can connect with those legendary kiwi sailors here and start to learn about local boat designs before I buy etc.
Unfortunately the first thread that caught my eye was an announcement by Zoe that the upcoming Coastal Classic had just won a new sponsorship agreement by HSBC bank.
A couple of days before I’d just had an awful experience trying to open my first NZ bank account with HSBC - and so I stupidly made my first ever post on Crew a warning to other people to avoid HSBC despite their generous new sponsorship. A few minutes later my post had disappeared. And up popped a message from the Editor saying “Welcome to Crew but please don’t publicly criticise our hard-won new sponsor of sailing in NZ!”
So I apologised and carried on and never had another post deleted. Until about 20yrs later in a very different ‘political’ climate!

at the moment it seems likely she'll step aside for grant roberston to be pm in 2022
that'll give him a year to 'craft his narrative' before election 2023
...
i guess the crew; owner, editor + mods may come here to see what's happening
wonder if they join?
what names would they use?
a fun game to try and spot them!

Hope so. He'll have the electoral magnetism of Rob Muldoon. But it's more likely the fairy princess will hang on,snout in trough,until next election and then do a Helen Clark and scarper off to the UN and mega $$. Sorry to repeat a post I put up on that other ex website !

I don't think she has the mental stamina to last that long, being in politics is like running a marathon, not a sprint, and she is just about ready for a meltdown |

so over at Crew, Small Talk with all its history has been eliminated (with one exception, Motorbikes, which ironically I started), how's that for censorship

Definitively followed the MOH directive ' Sanitize sanitize and sanitize again.
Started to go down hill when the "Classes" forum was shut down, yes there where some topics that were redundant.....but Radio Sailing....NO.

Ok, so any suggestions for ways to make this place any better then please let the ideas flow - either here or in the Welcome! message pinned at the top.
It’s obviously a simple (single) general forum structure right now which is working fine - but if people feel a small number of topic- specific forums would be better then let’s discuss?

Yes...the exodus after last weekends censorship debacle was its death knell. There can't be many contributors left. Where's KM. Don't know him but he was always thought provoking and a bit maverick.Can anybody entice him on here?.A small list of specific forums may be good ...OR is it just we're conditioned to that ex site layout

He's here already, risen from the ashes as GO30  Another AWOL crew member I have wondered about is Wheels, had not seen him on line for some months. Hopefully HarryTom will come on board soon as well |

But rest assured he’s back. Check out GO30’s posts for tell-take signs of old KM! And he’s still on original form in-person too! 😊 |
