So the Auckland Shooter was on home detention with an ankle bracelet. Hmmm. I wonder when Chippy will work out that if you let all the criminals out, crime goes up?
If this guy was in prison, he wouldn't have shot anyone today. Just saying.
Reid was sentenced in March on charges of injuring with intent to injure, wilful damage, male assaults female and impeding breathing.
The shooter was sentenced to five months’ home detention at the Auckland District Court.

I see Chris Hipkins got all choked up and teary during questions at the Beehive presser. Maybe he realised that after 6 years in charge, including as Police Minister, he's achieved fuck all? Or perhaps he realised that having a convicted criminal do a mass shooting while on home detention (instead of being in a secure prison) has completely screwed any hope he had of getting re-elected? Or, after saying they would sort out mental health, they haven't, and couldn't even organise a root in a whore house.

It's called chickens coming home to roost. As I predicted on that other forum when they got appointed by Winnie they have been an absolute shambles,a disaster and a disgrace to NZ. The worst guvmit in the western world.... if BP is reading this...I told you so ! my sympathies to the many victims of this failed social engineering experiment

They just glibly carry on, thinking of England and not speaking any thoughts or opinions at all. I would say you could pop back over there and ask BP, but you have to have FIVE posts approved by the censors sorry moderators before you could ask him an honest question.

www.stuff.co.nz/national/crime/300931632/auckland-cbd-shooter-you-dont-know-what-im-capable-ofThe starting point for the sentencing was two years and three months’ imprisonment, but lifted to three years for the violence used, vulnerability of the victim and the fact Reid was on supervision at the time of the offending. Reid was then given a nine-month discount for his guilty plea and a further seven month discount for his background which Judge Bonnar was satisfied had a connection to his offending. “I do not want to send a young man like you, with a limited history, to prison. I think it would be counterproductive and actually set you down the wrong path. WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP A cultural report prepared for the sentencing said Reid had “systemic deprivation” in his background, a disconnection from his culture, a history of family instability and hardship and had been exposed to domestic violence and physical abuse as a young person.

No one has said what he was on supervision for at the time of the assault... Kelvin Davis is surprisingly quiet. Sometimes you need to lock bad people up. Wonder if the Minister for Corrections has just worked that out?

And there will be plenty more. I got an email from them the day before those murders telling me I had to register my .22 serial number by 2028 .The reason given was that it would make NZ safer. Noooo. As evidenced the next day. Gun license holders were and are not the problem but we're easy pickings for brainless ideological pollies. Oh, BTW they had a serial number for my .22 and they canned that system. The police minister / commissioner had this theory that guns don't kill people, people kill people with guns. Go figure .

How do 13-15yr olds get a pistol and a shotgun? This is an example of older people (over 18) getting the kids to do the crime cause they can't be touched. Bortsel = consequences. Just bring back consequences. Sure, we could do with a govt that can deliver on housing and child poverty as well, but being nice to these people for ever isn't going to work by itself.

Another shooting in Downtown Auckland.
Im no rocket science but seems easy to me to figure out where/who the gunman went. Yep maybe a stolen credit card, but you needa card to hire one or phone app for lime scooter.
Scooters are gps so ,figure out which scooters were in use at the time of the shooting in the area and track from.Simple?

Police inspector says Auckland CBD is safe though. I thought it very odd he felt the need to say that. It doesn't look or sound very safe...
