fresh from their
wellington mayor
"don't you know who i am?"
'do the thing where my dinner's for free'
green party, promise-the-world, but deliver higher rates and greater disfunction
'did i mention i have a have a drinking problem' - tori whanau
the greens now have the embarrassment of their challenger to klowee? chloe(where's the umlaut?) for leadership
being a spoiled football hooligan
Foulkes was involved in a dispute at a football match.
It alleged he told the officers who arrested him, “‘You will be in trouble - my father is an MP and my mother is on the police board’.”
perhaps they encouraged their idiot son to move the colonies?
netflix or apple tv should be looking at a series about
a woke-cloaked, dysfunctional, banana republic
where a naive and trusting (to the point of gullibility) population
keeps believing the lies
of a pathological bunch of entitled, high-earning, low-producing
oxygen thieves

as you can imagine very powerful and wealthy people are silently working very hard to protect GG, and by association the greens, from the normal consequences of the alleged repeated expensive thefts by pushing hard for "diversion"... .i wonder if avatar's james cameron is a hefty donor?apparently $10,000 is a signifier of significant theft , with harsher sentencing than <$1000 or <$10,000currently the running total is "accused of stealing $2060 of clothing from Scotties Boutique in Auckland's Ponsonby on 21 December $7223 worth of clothing from the same store two days later last year. Both of the Auckland charges carry a maximum penalty of seven years in prison.
Ghahraman is also charged with stealing $695 worth of clothing from Wellington's Cre8iveworx store on 22 October last year. That charge carries a maximum penalty of one year in prison."The total value of items she is alleged to have shoplifted is $9978."www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/golriz-ghahraman-facing-another-charge-as-court-date-for-former-green-mp-pushed-back-again/7P2OO3QH5JBAJLUSLY74TGBUNY/sadly for her and her legion of crime deniers, there is now a new 4th allegation
and it's hard to see it involving goods <$22which would push her alleged criminality into the top slot sure our resident lawyer will be along soon to set the record straight

Completely different situations. The meth addled fuckwit was running around threatening people with violence and trying to start fights. The thefts were only a minor part of it. Additionally, (I would hope) prison is the best place for his own wellbeing, so that he can get treated for his addiction. I am making an assumption the Corrections actually offer, fund and run addiction programmes in prison. GG on the other hand. Part of me expects a stiff penalty because of the level of public trust put in her by her being a member of parliament. On the other hand, she has lost her career, and in a spectacular, public fashion, and has no priors (that we know of). Of course if you do the cultural background assessment there is all of the 'growing up in Afghanistan, refugee' and all of that. Is there a risk of re-offending? very low I'd say, given her public profile and notoriety. Diversion sounds a bit off though. I'd take a punt she will plead for diversion cause if she gets convicted she can't work as a barrister and will be fully out of a job. Noting she can't work it retail like the common people, cause she can't be trusted with the stock. Noting she can't be trusted, working as a barrister is really the only career open to her. My prediction is she'll get diversion and carry on working as a barrister. There will be a huge outcry from the downtrodden whom the Greens say they look after that this is double standards and 'money and friends in high places buys freedom' etc etc.

it seems nz has 4 categories of crimes cat4 the highest is for murder etc and seemingly not for diversion her alleged crimes seem to be cat3 Category 3 offence An offence that is punishable by imprisonment for life or by imprisonment for 2 years or more,www.justice.govt.nz/about/lawyers-and-service-providers/criminal-procedure-act/offence-categories-and-types-of-trials/cat1 is made for diversion..............hard to see how >$10,000 + "stealing until caught" would meet the low end of offending criteriaDiversion is therefore unavailable to those who plead not guilty. However, an initial plea of not guilty does not mean an individual cannot later be eligible for diversion if they subsequently acknowledge responsibility. Who doesn’t qualify? Crimes In New Zealand are divided into four categories, category one being the least serious offences and category four being the most serious.
Category one offences are where the defendant can only be fined, or sentenced to a community-based sentence such as community work or supervision, rather than imprisonment. People who commit these offences are most often considered for diversion. Category four offences, such as murder and manslaughter, are not considered for diversion because the offence does not meet the low end of offending criteria.www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/explainer-what-is-diversion-and-how-do-people-get-it/PLUEKFUADZHNXJZDVCJ4DJJVGI/my current low respect for the judiciary would fall even further if her 'power and position' enabled her to get a reduced sentence iran not afghanistan
but both practitioners of amputation under sharia law

Good to see NZ is still corruption free Slater has more to say about this thebfd.co.nz/2024/03/14/oh-my-what-a-cosy-coincidence/Prima facie, it appears that Judge Maria Pecotic and Golriz Ghahraman have worked together on at least two cases, for which there is publicly available information proving such a relationship. Now would a former work colleague come down harder or softer on a thief? Surely there is a conflict of interest. This whole episode had a stench about it from the get-go, especially with Ghahraman doing a runner overseas for a period of time before finally resigning from Parliament in disgrace. Now it appears that the court schedule has been subverted so that Ghahraman can appear before a judge she has previously worked with. It doesn’t just appear to be vaguely dodgy, it looks precisely dodgy. It stinks, and you can smell the wafting coincidence all over Auckland, permeating everywhere. What on earth is going on? The judge should have recused herself. She certainly should recuse herself for sentencing now. If this involved a former National MP then accusations of mates from the Northern Club and corruption would be hurled around with gay abandon by the left. Now we get to watch the Greens and Labour tie themselves in knots justifying this. Some random impertinent questions need asking. Was her case brought forward because she knew the judge? Did the judge accommodate her? Will the same judge do the sentencing?Judges normally recuse themselves if there is even the hint of a suggestion of conflict of interest. But then the left play by different rules, remember the case of the Labour Party Youth Camp groper, very "conveniently" the judge was Michael Cullen's one time brother in law, and the name suppressed son of a cabinet minister groper got off without conviction, notwithstanding the fact sexual assault had clearly occurred, and also never a mention of the Labour Party supplying alcohol to minors.

What the fuck?!?! Substantial cases have been declared a mistrial because the Judge has met the defendant socially, even in situations where the Judge had no recollection of it. There is no way a Judge can sentence a former co-worker. Surely this is set out in some sort of Professional Conduct Manual at the Ministry of Justice or something?

Agree the judge should be replaced.
But. Let’s not assume that just because the judge previously worked with grab-a-garment that she like her… 😊
Not all work relationships are good!

I work with several people I hope I never see outside of the office environment. But if Garament had half a brain she would have done all she could have to get that judge changed. This is just another stain on what little integrity she has left.

This is the very definition of a conflict of interest. Judges are supposed to be completely 100% impartial. Can't be impartial if she's worked with Ghrabagarment before and knows her to be a lying conniving wench. I'd go so far as to say it's not possible to be impartial if you have any prior knowledge of the person. It's now in the mainstream media, and the District Court Head is just saying "nothing to see here, move along" PS, aren't the Greens doing well. Spokesperson for Small Business (Didn't know they had one) suspended for exploiting migrants. Mwahahaha. It is getting really hard to make this stuff up.

stuff seem to be claiming the scalp of the latest green embarrassment "Green Party co-leader Marama Davidson says a Stuff investigation made it "clearer" there were unanswered questions about MP"Santiago Latour Palma says he’s owed over $25,000 by his former boss Christian Hoff-Nielsen - and for most of that time, was working illegally on a tourist visa.
He says wages were often late and went unpaid, and he raised this twice with Tana, who refused to get involved, despite Tana asking him for IT support for her political campaign.
He says he told Tana then that he was on a tourist visa, and she told him not to worry because he would be paid in cash. www.stuff.co.nz/nz-news/350212641/bike-shop-green-mp-and-alleged-migrant-exploitation
