not going make any difference to me.I didnt vote, change the mayor but still got the beauracrats underneath who hold the power. For the mayor to overrule its called a dictator. No change in reality. plenty of smart people didn't vote because " not voting is better than a I'll informed vote"... All day long!

they call non-voting
a vote of non-confidence
ie
i can't be arsed
because nobodies cares what i think
certainly not the civil-servants
who have already made all their plans
and aren't going to change them just because the voters don't want them

It is interesting you say that. I voted for Brown cause he is starting a war on the Elite Beauracacy. That is why the Chair of AT is already gone (before lunchtime) AND the media are already after him. Several examples of this already. That was a full on hit job where he was secretly recorded off camera by a Journo, then ambushed with it in the debate with Collins. This is the one where he said the other Journo that was saying he couldn't do the job because of his age (not a journo's job to have an opinion on that), that Brown said he was a cunt, and if elected would put his photo in every urinal in the city, so he could piss on him. The establishment will be working overtime to create a scandal asap. Hope Brown hasn't been banging a local board rep in the Ngati-Whaki room like loony Len was...

Whanau got in with about 30% of a 46% turnout. FFS that is like gaining power of a city with just 12% of the people voting for you Any system that allows a result with less than half the people voting is a sham and allows minority groups like the young dumb greens to activate and dominate. NZ is a sham!

summary of the election results, www.kiwiblog.co.nz/2022/10/the_slaughter_of_the_lambs.htmlLabour candidates in general crucified. Particularly pleased to see Pippa Coom voted out, she was leading the push to hand the Hauraki Gulf over to the maoris. Julie Fairey, wife of useless minister of Transport Michael "rivers of filth" Woods also voted out. Glad to see our local guy Greg Sayer has retained his seat. Only downside is the Northshore mob have voted Chris "on your bike" Darby back in I see Nick Smith has won in Nelson. I also note the Wellington crowd have voted themsleves a Green mayor, that should be a hoot for those of us not living there.

He’s world famous in northland . Well liked and disliked in equal measure , he used to come into my workplace with his family many years ago when I lived the Bay of islands . They seemed liked decent folk , shared a few waves with him and his son quite a few times too around the north and never had an issue there either . The proof will be in the pudding though , Aucklands a beast and he’s getting on in years .

Eke Panuku "receives millions from ratepayers each year" to help regenerate the region, it "returns very little".
The mayor-elect campaigned on working to "fix Auckland" by replacing the city's ageing infrastructure and making changes to council-controlled organisations.
He said Aucklanders are “sailing into an economic and fiscal storm”.
While Brown promised to help the supercity's essential council-provided community services weather the economic uncertainty, he said “serious savings” would be necessary.
“As mortgage rates rise and people come off fixed loans, Aucklanders are going to be paying double or triple on their weekly mortgages, while the value of their homes risks continuing to fall,” he said.
“Under my leadership, and working with the new governing body, Independent Māori Statutory Board, and local boards, Auckland Council will do everything it can to not add to the pain Aucklanders are about to experience.”
There is speculation former National Party cabinet minister Maurice Williamson will chair the finance committee. Williamson has said he is only standing for one term and one reason only - to tame the "spending monster" and see a return to fiscal discipline.

radio nz not liking auckland's choice of mayor
seems they wanted a transformational mayor (anybody but a white male businessman with proven track record)
someone with no concept of; efficiency, targets and budgeting
guess as suckers on the public's teat
they don't either
