did effeso ever cost his free public transport policy? there's a national driver shortage with buses cancelled all over the place i can't see how it was ever going to work and i don't think he never knew how it was going to be paid for typical labour...........how can anyone who successfully balances spending with earning ever identify with these "let them east cake" lefties? there's a boat driver shortage as well, Fuller's struggling to man (or should that be "person") their ferries. Hardly surprising given their miserable wages, skipper of a big ferry does not get paid much more than a bus driver

I agree with him!... Being Brown cost him big time. He was tarnished by the racist Maoris like Mahuta, Davies, Jackson and that twit Tamahere... And rightly so... The majority spoke.

Unbelievable how could this happen in NZ??
I would not put it pass the red bartasds after finding their member was trailing inches polls.
Just look at the number devious things they have done in the past five years.

Oh please let this be true! Mr River of Filth would not be happy if Mrs River of Filth got pinged for that! Shit like this doesn't appear out of nowhere though, one has to think where there's smoke, there's fire. Maybe they could get Kate Hannah onto the job to prove it's pure disinformation, started of course by someone in Russia...

The problem is we choose MPs based on everything other than their ability to improve what needs improving.

Be interesting to see the total debit charted over the rate increases? View AttachmentThis is a complete what the fuck? I voted for Brown to keep rates down. Nekminnit. That idiot Efoso Collins was going to bankrupt the city with free public transport and all sorts of other handouts. If Brown gives us over 7%, what would Collins have given us? This is incomprehensible.

There is clearly something else going on here. And it's nothing to do with the sink hole. I've dealt with a couple myself. You can usually fix them within a day, given a few days for planning and getting a weather window. The quickest way is to float a cured in place liner down the pipe and cured it in place. If that doesn't work, you excavate over the top of it and drop an encasement pipe (half round) over the top of the carrier pipe. Given that there was a known failure right next to this one, leaving it since January smacks of negligence. Or a bigger game plan. If you are facing budget cuts, the best course of action is to do nothing. You meet your budget. Then, when the road caves in and you have to close a 4 lane arterial route for 4 months, suddenly the money appears to fix it. NEVER, EVER waste a good crisis. Wayne is slashing budgets. OK. Healthy Waters can match that and raise you one. Just like the 'Yes, Minister' series when the minister wants to save money, so they send the cleaning lady in during the day instead of at night. She is vacuuming while he's trying to have a meeting. "But you said you wanted to save money, Minister?!" It would appear Healthy Waters are saying, yes, you can slash our budget. No problem. Oh, you don't want sink holes?! This is a manufactured event to prove a point / create a crisis purely to politic around departmental budgets. Oh, and it shouldn't take more than a week to fix, unless there is a massive capital upgrade snuck into the emergency works order....

PS, looking back at page 1 of this thread, I bet anyone that would take it, a good bottle of whisky that the elite bureaucracy would make as much trouble as possible for Brown. Leaving a known pipe failure for 6 months, then closing a 4 lane road for 4 months, all while getting multi-day front page media on the sink hole sounds just like the elite bureaucracy making some mischief. Any capable engineer would have sorted and reinstated by the end of March, unless of course, you want to prove a point.

That's how it works. Staff only respond to questions. They never tell the full story. If you don't know then you can't ask. When a new CEO starts the first thing done is a "restructure" That gets rid of old hands who may not show loyalty to new CEO. Wayne Brown should do the same. Clean out all hierarchy or else they'll bring him down. Happens all the time in all politics. Trump called it draining the swamp. He's correct.

A legacy from the rain deluge late January was that half of one lane of Mahurangi East Rd (near James St) was subsided down a gully. After a few days some cones were placed around the edge and some temporary traffic lights placed there. After a few more weeks a flat area on the opposite side was sealed and new lines painted to create a chicane for the local hoons. When I left late May nothing more had been done and knowing nothing happens in the roading world over winter I will be very surprised if anything has changed when I return late October. Then to add to the mix power is out at home, sounds like the lines have come down somewhere on Kawau which impacts Mahurangi East on my list when i get home is to sort out the Standby Power system (generator, batteries etc) , these power outages are happening more and more frequently
