No one is coming up with the solution of how to achieve this. Everything I have read says it's not possible.
I fully support unvax'd blood products as an option. But everything I have read says it's not possible.
Sue Grey wants us to trust that the 20 volunteers are unvax'd, screened and certified pediatric blood donors.
Would you 100% trust her and them to provide your new born blood?
In the meantime the life of this baby, who cannot choose for themselves, hangs in the balance.
Fortunately there's plenty of precedence and the child will get the care they need. Hopefully, with all the media attention, an actual pediatric donor steps forward and provides sufficient assurance that they are Unvaxxed for the family and nzbs allow it.
However that will not solve the problem of unvaxxed blood products. But the family seems to be OK with that.
Meanwhile people, like yourself, who can choose, can get on the protest bandwagon and petition government to set up a means for people to receive blood products from the unvax'd.
Anti-mRNA's often question the science behind the mRNA vaccines when they are healthy, but if they are seriously ill, they do not question the science behind any medical treatment they need. Most will suddenly trust any science when it's their life on the line.
Have you made a medical declaration that you refuse vaccinated blood? Or is receiving vaccinated blood a risk that you're prepared to take?

So even if someone has had all their immunisations and have gotten their children immunised with all the older well trialled immunisations, you still call them anti vaxxers just because they don't want to join the mRNA cult?
I'm not wasting my time with someone of that mindset.

Geez Sabre so in the medical event you need blood or liver etc you are going to hold out until they find an unvaxed volunteer?Hope you have informed the family of your choice.

[deleted due to reference to anti-vax not being an appropriate term for someone who is only anti-mrna]

No I didn't say that HT. I said I'm not interested in conversing with someone who uses the term antivaxxer based on someones dislike of the mRNA jabs. Life is too short to bother with brainwashed trolls.

Let us not forget that this purpose of this thread was to discuss the availability of unvaccinated blood for a baby.
You're the one that trolled the thread with your anti-mrna rhetoric.
In the interests of keeping the peace, I have edited the above post to read anti-mrna instead of anti-vaxer.
I hope that is more amenable to you and I appoligise for calling you an anti-vaxer.

The issue in hand.Is a baby that has no voice, relying parents who think they have babies best interest? Wrong in this the medical has my full support to take custody of this baby anymore in the future.Regligous grounds/anti vaccines etc
The state will be held accountable for any misconduct so should the parents for neglect.
You would do it to animal why is a baby different??

No, the issue at hand is the freedom of choice. Currently we are free to choice provided we choose what the govt wants. As soon as someone chooses the alternative, they get crushed. In this case, they loose the right to choose. They loose 'custody' of their child. This wishes of these parents could be accommodated easily, if there was motivation to. But is far more convenient for the State to just crush them. That is the real issue.

Can you name one country where you truly have freedom to do whatever you want without consequences? I can't.
You can't choose to put your children on a diet that leaves them malnourished.
You can't choose to leave your baby in the car while you pop into the pub for a quick pint.
You can't choose to paint your house red if your agreement says no red houses.
You can't choose to put up a 3m electric fence along the road front of your suburban property.
There is no true free choice, there never has been.
Please explain how the wishes of the parents can be met? No one else has been able to explain that. Not a single article from the experts on either side has been able to explain how to facilitate this.
It is not as simple as finding a unvaxxed pediatric donor for a whole blood transfusion. Blood products are made in Australia from the blood of many different individuals, the process takes weeks.
This baby needs blood products - not just a whole blood transfusion. Whole blood would only be required if the surgery has complications.

The only compromise here is for:
NZDS to find an approved pediatric donor who is unvaxxed for a whole blood transfusion (if required)
AND
For the parents to take the word of the donor. Cause there is no way to test if someone has received the vaccine.
AND
For the parents to accept blood products (plasma and red cells) from vaccinated donors.

They spent 35 million on a vaccine database. I thought it strange that about a third of the covid deaths being reported in the early days had vaccine status unknown, spent at least 10x what the local supplier quoted and it didn't work. Now we have "no way to determine if a person is vaccinated" coming out of the MOH. How is it that you expect me to trust these people?

Now we have "no way to determine if a person is vaccinated" coming out of the MOH. How is it that you expect me to trust these people? It's a debacle. My Dad was vaccinated overseas. He gave up trying to get his NZ details updated. My wife's record still shows she's only had two shots, dispite watching the booster go into her arm. We've all seen the news articles of people using fake names to receive the jab. And the Muppets that took the jab for someone else, with one guy getting it 20 times. It's not like we had to provide ID when we rolled our sleeves up. All the records were made with trust. Anyway, my point wasn't the faulty database or the lack of identity. I was referring to the fact that there is no blood test to detect if an individual has received the vaccine or not. So NZBS can give no guarantee. And it will ultimately come down to the family trusting the donors word and backing that up with other information such as the database.

Incidentally, blood is also given with trust...
You are not allowed to give blood if you are a man who has have had sex with another man within 3 months. That is because there's no infallible blood test for HIV in the first 3 months.
You're also not allowed to give blood if you lived in the UK during the 90's. That's because there is no infallible blood test for mad cow disease.
It's all based on trust and requires people to tell the truth.
