Wow, so it turns out that this baby already had a transfusion of whole blood some months ago during another surgery, which the parents agreed too.
Then the disinformation experts got to the parents and so now they are denying the baby's second round of surgery.

The judge has reserved their decision - given the urgency, hopefully the baby gets that decision tomorrow. Apparently the baby's heart is getting damaged more and more with every passing day.
I have no doubt that it will be the right decision and that the conspiracy theorists will be served a cup of shut the fuck up - hopefully it is not too late.

Do you have some details the rest of us don't about the need for the last transfusion? There are certain situations you don't get the opportunity to consent. And now, you last post looks a bit like you are just out for trolling. Is it normal for you to label everyone that doesn't agree with you as a conspiracy theorist? Or are you just running out of logic and need to go to the good old name calling?

Just about everything that comes out of your mouth is disinformation. Your not fooling anyone.

And now, you last post looks a bit like you are just out for trolling. Is it normal for you to label everyone that doesn't agree with you as a conspiracy theorist? Or are you just running out of logic and need to go to the good old name calling? The previous surgery was announced by NZ Health in the hearing. Apparently the parents signed on good faith that blood would only be needed in the event of an emergency which is what happened. And which is why they need to give consent again. They are refusing to give consent again because now they have been told how dangerous that was.Edit: The baby has already had a blood transfusion, lawyer for the parents Sue Grey has told the court. She explained the parents had signed consent forms before a surgery in good faith but blood became needed during the procedure. “The fact they got away with it once doesn’t mean that we should effectively play blood roulette and try it again,” Grey said. The people behind this (not the parents) have all these different conspiracy theories as to why the blood is unsafe. They have been labelled conspiracy theorists by the health system, by the doctors, by the lawyers, by the majority of the public and by me. Unfortunately substantially more conspiracy theories turn out to be exactly that, theories, rather than conspiracies. So being a conspiracy theorist has all these bad connotations about it because you are associated with the magnitude of bs. But there have certainly been conspiracy theories that have turned out to be true conspiracies. To be clear here, I don't think that parents are conspiracy theorists, I doubt very much that they have time to do anything that could be considered theorizing other than what they have been told is best for their children. They are pawns in this and the conspiracy theorists, some of which are financially or socially benefiting, are taking them along for the ride. I notice that Brian Tamaki has got on the band wagon and is using it to further his cause.

Judge ruled in favour of NZHealth. The baby has been placed under court’s guardianship for surgery. I don't think anyone will be surprised by that. Next, we will have to work out why a lady is in Prison for not registering her cafe with the Council, when a guy that rapes 4 girls isn't.

Our son was born with a critical illness and required life-saving surgery on day 1 of his life. He then spent weeks in the amazing care of the Starship doctors & nurses at NICU.
It was the worst 24hrs of my life when the doctors told me the problem and I asked them “Can you save him?”
They said “Yes, we should be able to but you need to accept the risks of surgery and sign these forms etc.” Which we did.
The best 3 words I have ever heard in my life came from the lips of the senior paediatric consultant surgeon a few hours later as we met the surgical team coming out of the operating theatre with our 1-day old son: “Everything went ok”.
I nearly collapsed with relief.
We made a big donation to Starship after that. And our (now 8 year old) son delivers a Christmas hamper to the Starship doctors & nurses every Christmas Eve.
We will never forget what they did for us and we hope they never forget him.
I’m generally opposed to state intervention and believe that for the most part the individual should make the right choice for themself.
But a baby can’t make that choice. In which case the parents should. And if they can’t, then it’s a (rare) occasion for the State to take over and do the right thing. I’m very happy for my taxes to fund this little baby’s treatment.

There is a video online showing the police taking the baby for the op. The mother is very upset, and the father is basically being a dick, calling the cops criminals and raising tensions and emotion. I am a bit surprised there is video of this event. The parents have already made a point, have national media coverage and been through the high court. At this stage, I would have been focusing on the physical and emotional wellbeing of everyone (especially the mother). There has to be a point where the baby just needs the surgery. Yes the footage of the state taking a baby is highly emotive, but in my view, the father is showing in this video he is not capable of rational decisions, and that leads to the justification of the Court Order. A major parallel is the OT without notice uplift of newborn babies from mothers who a social worker deems is unfit to be a parent. Happens all the time, no warning, and no media. www.stuff.co.nz/national/health/300760872/blood-donor-case-protest-as-baby-has-heart-surgery-against-parents-wishes

That baby has the right to the best chances of survival that humankind can provide it today.
No parent has the right to deny that.
Fingers crossed the procedure is successful.

Thanks for that post Fogg it’s what it’s really about . Not the prime ministers facial features or whatever childish quip pops into one’s head . I nearly lost my ex wife after the birth of our first child from an internal hemorrhage . It went unnoticed for 6 hours , luckily a very observant nurse noticed the abdominal swelling . This was just before blood screening and I had a sign waiver accepting she may contract AIDS or Hep of all kinds . This was in the middle of a shit storm about blood screening and I was torn for about 5 seconds but signed . I was told later that another 30 mins and she would’ve perished . She didn’t get a transfusion in the end thanks to our obstetrician who happened to be attending another birth . She stepped in and helped stop the bleeding and made the call not to do a transfusion .

Looking at the court decision it makes practical sense….I can envisage people making demands about the type of blood they want to receive . It could very challenging for NZ bloods to sort blood by race , sexual orientation , gender , religion , vaccination status , hair colour , or garlic content .
Maybe there’s an opening for private blood banks to supply “designer” blood ?

I am a bit surprised there is video of this event. I am not surprised at all. The anti-vax movement is helping to orchestrate this. There is a lot of money to be made from videos like this. The families 'support people' are in there 'supporting' and are ready to feed information out to their supporters. I heard Sue Grey was turned away at the front entrance and threatened with trespass. The father's acting like a dick, yes, but only because he's been brainwashed by conspiracists. I believe the parents have their babies best interests at heart.
