Cats ... years ago my brother was living next to a native reserve complete with big feral tomcat that had been spraying his territory (including the louvers of his car) and generally pissing off brother who announces he's going to kill the bastard. wife then went on the cats defence and negotiated that at the most brother can "traumatise" it . So the brother built a trap baited with a bit of KFC and set it in the doorway of the downstairs workshop. Sure enough there was a clang and heaps of commotion not long after. Realising how vicious the thing was said brother kitted up with his bike racing kit - full leathers, gloves, helmet and armed himself with a rolled up Herald... closes the door so its him and the Tomcat and let it out of the cage. apparently it first did a couple of laps of the workshop at shoulder height knocking everything of the shelves then realising it was trapped went straight at the brother, trying to rake his face and all . a hell of a fight apparently, and a surprising amount of fighting dirty from the cat but eventually the Herald won and the Tomcat was traumatised... Reality is though the next day the thing would of been back to killing native birds

You forget how dumb some people are. They live in a world of unicorns and rainbows and anyone that disagrees with them is a nazi... What annoys me most about that article is that I can't get the sound to play so I can have a good chuckle at the kids sticking it to the protesters. It's odd how hard cats are to shoot though, I've missed several, even from a very close distance. Nazi and/or racist.
The kids did good and responded well.
Hell yes, hence I am considering a trap or 2. But we see them often at a little distance and all over the place so some longer range high speed projectile will always be handy.

Problem is how do you prove they were feral?? Buried cat ,tells no lies

Cat takes out power to 25,000 homes in Napier. Climbed into the Redcliffe substation and 'contacted electrical power equipment'. No mention on if the cat is alright? I'm just waiting for the woke outcry from vegans, the SPCA and anti-cat-hunters. PS, wonder if it was feral or someone's beloved pet. PPS, wonder if they can find any parts of the cat at all... Seriously though, this story stands out, as Unison has made no apology to the cat, has not conveyed their 'thoughts and prayers' to the cat's family, or expressed any regret the cat was harmed in their substation. As stated above, they haven't even commented on the condition of the cat, nor if a veterinarian was called to assess the cat and to provide feline first aid. www.stuff.co.nz/national/hawkes-bay/300916601/cat-causes-explosion-plunges-napier-into-darkness-in-major-power-outage

From the depth of the Friday crybaby's dept. Funny how she slags the Listener 7 off, yet one of them was Maori. I guess Richard Dawkins is just another racist bigot given he agreed with the 7. e-tangata.co.nz/reflections/50-reasons-there-are-no-maori-in-your-science-department/?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=29May2023No.34 is awesome! Because your department is an anxious, bullying, colonial, dangerous, ego-driven, fucked up, gloomy, hurtful, isolating, juvenile, knavish, lonely, monstrous, nauseating, offensive, painful, questionable, racist, sexist, tiresome, unbalanced, venomous, warlike, xenophobic, yucky, zoo.

Has academia been corrupted by ‘woke’ ideology?
HARDtalk
Stephen Sackur speaks to controversial philosopher Peter Boghossian, who spoofed a host of US academic journals to expose what he claims is the corruption of academia by politically fashionable ‘woke’ ideology. www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/w3ct4p7m

Was out for a bike ride in the w/e with a high court judge, he was saying his daughter was at uni in Melbourne because it's ranked ~20 in the world and nuzldz uni's are ranked too low. He said she had a big group of kiwi friends at uni over there. Then you read shit like this and it seems like we just want to accelerate our decline in the rankings. theplatform.kiwi/opinions/the-pm-pushes-old-time-religion

from that
“Act has seen a leaked copy of the ‘refreshed’ NZ curriculum for science, technology and the arts. Throughout the document, the words ‘chemistry’, ‘physics’, ‘biology’, ‘atom’ and ‘molecule’ get zero mentions.
‘Force’ gets one mention.
‘Mātauranga Māori’ receives over 50 mentions.
Who decided science should give way to spirituality?
(The answer to that question is, of course, the Right Honourable Christopher John Hipkins, currently serving as the 41st Prime Minister of New Zealand, and who was the Minister of Education for five years after Labour came to power in 2017.)

Noting that 'buggering' is how all these non-binaries have sex, I find that deeply offensive, insensitive, ill considered, oh, and trampling on my mana. And maybe a Fruedian slip on your part?

laugh and tell people quite clearly the problem is with them
not you
and that you will continue to 'call a spade a spade'
they are free of course to go down whatever rabbit-hole they desire
but you won't be following them
