The Chinese offered, for free,to run a 3 lane freeway from WHANGAREI to Marsden but the powers that be didn't take up the offer.
Why.. cos China would take us over and enslave us 🙄🙄🙄

Not much chance of NZTA's network being remediated any time soon when their minister is a self confessed donkey thebfd.co.nz/2023/02/26/we-dont-have-time-for-donkeys/Actually I think that is an insult to donkeys, the US expression of Jack Ass is more applicable to Michael Wood.

Meanwhile, 25 at Te Kouma hill is ready to slip away which will close the Thames coast road before Coromandel town and another piece of 25 south of whitianga is ready to fall away. Has been slowly getting worse for 7 months now and nothing has been done. Now only about 3 feet from the side of the road. Micheal Woods is completely out of his depth, as are most of the cabinet ministers.

Is it true that to fund the rebuild, Chris Hipkins is going to run a charity lotto draw?
What the fuck? are we going to fund rebuilding all of Hawkes Bay and Gisbourne by doing bake-sales and sausage sizzles? We could do a special girl guide cook as well, Gabrielle Cookies...

Fundraising efforts Hipkins announced the launch of an international fundraising appeal and a special Lotto draw on 18 March to help support the recovery efforts. Asked whether he was concerned Lotto tickets were sold disproportionately to low income households, Hipkins said people would be buying tickets regardless of the special draw. Hipkins said 50 cents in the dollar would go into the cause from the Lotto draw. He said until now he had not looked at the wider distribution of Lotto funds. "No gambling is great but compared to some of the other forms of gambling, where there are clearly bigger issues, I'm comfortable with a Lotto draw." www.rnz.co.nz/news/national/484944/watch-pm-chris-hipkins-provides-post-cabinet-meeting-update

I commented a little while ago about the H placarded trucks roundly abusing the rules. Took my usual route to work this morning along Falls Road to cross the 1 Way Weir/Floodway and what is blocking my way Muppet had tried to drive his truck and trailer across the weir and the rear axle set of the trailer fell off the inside edge. Road was blocked for hours. There are signs everywhere saying maximum length 11m. You can see the 'H" placard on the bumper just to the right of the tree. What on earth was he (not) thinking taking A 2 minute short cut. Here is another tuck getting it wrong during one of the previous rain events Of course light vehicles are not immune, couple of years ago same mistake made with one of our work utes, you could just see the top of its roof in the wate rbefore it was hauled out

Are they just doing easy bits to spend their budget on before end of year??

That looks quite impressive to me Sloop - i wish i had more confidence in Nationals main players though. assuming they oust the present lot, they'll need to be on their "A" game for years to turn around the basket case that the country now is. (he says as he ponders 6 hours of dodging potholes tomorrow for a simple engineering job)

For all who have been asking, looks like the Puhoi to Warkworth motorway extension will be opening either 18 or 25 June per nx2group.com/confirmed by some advice from the inside. There will no doubt be a huge opening ceremony attended mostly by people who did nothing to progress the job and some who in fact obstructed it, somehow I don't think the "rivers of filth" stood down Minister of Transport M Wood will be there. Note the Puhoi ramps will be out of action for a month while they are realigned, hope the guys don't "find" the HV power lines there when they relocate the barriers.
