Had a cencus wholla rock up to our town place yesterday looking for mine. I told them I left it on a table in Nicaragua. They said they would check with immigration to see if I was telling the truth.
I replied 'best you also check with Jenny Craig to verify you are the fat bastard that I'm calling you' and walked off.
What a fuckwit that git was....and a big fat one
Edit - I better add me and Stats have had a many decades long head bash over cencus forms and the filling of them.

Someone came to my door and left a calling card. Also left paper version of the census forms in the letter box. I had a browse then binned them. Looking at the questions, they are dreaming if I'm going to fill one of those out. Other than I object to being called European when all my parents and grandparents were born here, I've developed a distrust of the govt since the covid BS. That, and you can't right freehand in the forms, you have to put one letter in each box. Pain in the arse.

Dude, your behavior towards that public servant was straight-up terrible. I mean, what were you even trying to achieve by provoking them and then throwing personal attacks when you got a reaction to your provocation? It's not cool to treat someone like that, especially when they're just doing their job. Your actions reflect poorly on your character and it's not a good look, my friend. It's time to do some self-reflection and make an effort to treat people with kindness and respect. We're all just trying to get by, so make it a little easier by being decent to a fellow human being.

Remember, if you pay the fine for non-compliance then you'll have lost. Let us know how much you end up forking out in legal fees to maintain your act of rebellion. Personally I think you are all talk, but look forward to the evidence that proves me wrong.

If they were doing their job in a professional manner I would have responded in kind. But when any contracted git starts accusations of lieing and threats of jail, especially to someone who is far more knowledge on probable penaltys than they are, they are asking for push back. As I'm so obliging I only gave them exactly what they asked for.

Couldn't you have just said, "I was out of the country on census night, my understanding is that I didn't have to complete it". Or is there more to the story than you have initially indicated.. certainly the way you have presented the story indicates that you took the first shot...

Personally I think you are all talk, but look forward to the evidence that proves me wrong. In 2001 (?) for not filing the form out 'to the Stats Dept satisfaction' it was 5 hundy a day until you did. If it went to court I was told 5k minimum and the 5 hundy still continued if not done. Note it wasn't just 'filled in' it was also 'to the Depts satisfaction'. That's where we fell out as they wanted me to make up things rather than write the truth, I wasn't will to do so. Long story short, I won they lost and they lost badly. It's always fun embarrassing a Govt.

I was very reasonable as one should be but then the accusations started. None who saw it could understand why the git went full septic for no appearent reason. We suspect there maybe a watchlist and with our history I have little doubt I'd be on it. Govt Depts have long memories when it comes to those who make them look silly.

Mine got lost in the mail. NZpost really need to lift their game.
Mind you the government did call me and my family misoginists, white supremicists and a river of filth and refused to hear our concerns about big pharma sponsored medical tyranny so surely that null and voids any contract or responsibility as a citizen in this country?

Someone from the govt just came to our door, to "help" us, on a Sunday morning. Threatened us with a $2,000 fine. Guy said he job was to "encourage" us to hand over all our personal information. Missus has her tits in a tangle. This is going to get interesting.

Missus has her tits in a tangle. This is going to get interesting. Is she upset and agitated with your refusal to participate? Or is she frustrated by the government's 1900's census law that required participation? Alternatively, could it be that she is upset due to a complete lack of understanding about the significance of statistical data collection and its role in improving New Zealand?

Please keep the stories coming, I love watching this unfold.
I wonder what they will do if they come back and see that he card is still in the door? Will they go to another door... maybe a beware of the dog sign will keep them away.
