Humans rely on nature for food, probably only fair. Maybe debating if humans are part of nature would help with developing your point of view? Just seems in last few months/yrs nature seems to of associated vessels with food.anchor in north harbour and the ducks arrive as you put down the pick, head out to about 1/2 half way to channel island for a drift and the mutton birds arrive along with mother kerry chickens,go shallow and shags soon appear, just wating for fish release and doesnt matter which side you release they get the fish. With warmer seas at the moment have found sharks,hammers/bronzies arent shy even with motor running just appear.harmoncis playing apart??I know they do for marlin. Try fishing with natural baits like pipi/cockle/mussel and snapper seem reluctant to take,A snapper can never catch a mullet or carp but certainly want them. Kings must be the smartest though eat all the scraps but identify which bit has the hook and avoid it like the plague. Talking a white island charter skipper who targets kings,no longer do kings there chase metal jigs or soft baits, have kings learnt something?they now gone back to live baits

Just wrapping up my boys B-Day party and we had a twister come through. Feckin weird. Was dead calm and hot, then a westerly built fairly quick, then came in from the SE, then twisty twisty. There was seabreeze type cloud building inland, it all kicked off not long after that came over us. Lifted a beanbag off the lawn and into the air 20m. Lifted a camping table maybe 7m up. We had a 20 odd meter long waterslide (Black PVC sheet) that was flapping up in the air (pinned down on one end). Luckily the deck umbrella didn't get nailed, 3m square, although the missus said it was trying to lift it. Lots of other random bits blowing around. Most annoying it took my favourite wide brimmed "Shelta" hat off my head and across the neighbourhood. My hat and several large pieces of foam like polystyrene went up something like 100m and took off. We were watching them for maybe 3-5 mins just spinning around. Came down 500 to 700m away, as in two streets over kind of thing. I've been for a drive and a walk around the drop zone but can't find them. That was a legend hat. About $120 for a new one. grrr Still, there was a random sudden twister in Tazzy not long ago, they were having a school gala and it picked up the bouncy castle. Six kids killed. At least all I've lost is my fav hat. www.sheltahats.com/

More breeze would be nice but the clouds make the current 30 degrees quite pleasant, nasty when they move off though.

Wet has started here, very gentle so far but building. Zero wind and cooler than recent which is good. Good weather for 'Burning Man Festival Ruawai 2024' kicking off this arvo.
Brought to you by an excessive intake of Mateus Rose

Been around Kawau & Mahurangi area last few days. Weather definitely better than even the worst forecast with most rain being either light passing showers or overnight.
Today - Sunday - started wet but hasn’t rained most of the day. Looks like starting again later this afternoon / evening but tomorrow looks ok for another daytrip with friends onboard.

Brought to you by an excessive intake of Mateus Rose Do they even still make that stuff? Brings back memories of when there were only 3 choices of wine: Blue Nun, Black Tower and Mateus Rose. Which was around the same era that a posh meal was a prawn cocktail starter, a main of steak & chips, and a dessert of Blackforest gateaux.

Which was around the same era that a posh meal was a prawn cocktail starter, a main of steak & chips, and a dessert of Blackforest gateaux. That's exactly what I said when I spied it in the Maungaturoto 4 Square beverage section. The bottle isn't green any more but still is that old shape. So I grabbed a few, chucked a couple of chairs in the middle of a 3ha paddock so D1 could have a few with 'her siblings' as she refers to our teenager heard. Most enjoyable evening even if it pans out we have a few bovines who don't mind a drop or 2 of the grape
And best of all, or possibly worse depending on control levels, it wasn't at all shabby and I'd do it again no problem. Cooks Chasseur was another. Still get that today but now it's some gawd knows what in 3lt boxes.
Shrimp Cocktails are now back in vogue and becoming common on menus again. Most I notice do mention 'traditional' and are made like the old school ones. I do enjoy the simplicity.
Also popping up a lot more lately is the old steak and chips side kick stable, green pepper sauce.

I’m worried about you, GO30.
I think a few of us need to launch an intervention and literally get you launched back out on the water again, for some levelling up… 😊
