Do they even still make that stuff? Brings back memories of when there were only 3 choices of wine: Blue Nun, Black Tower and Mateus Rose. Which was around the same era that a posh meal was a prawn cocktail starter, a main of steak & chips, and a dessert of Blackforest gateaux. You forgot the "cold duck" Remember the red from spain,Sangre de toro when it had the plastic bull on it?? Who sells Sherry now days, been looking for a particular brand but can only port or some crap Ruby rich. After a Spanish sherry Dry Fly.Worst comes to worst can give Nephew a bottle of "Purple Death" My understanding is there is no market for Sherry or Port these days, but they are still made. The Sherry / Port companies have been bought by the Scottish whisky distillers. They need the barrels for the appropriate aging processes, but can't get them if the Sherry market collapses, so literally purchased the Sherry companies, run them at a loss (I assume) just to keep a supply of used barrels going for the whisky. Noting a lot of the colour in certain whiskies come from being aged in Sherry or Port barrels. The other fascinating thing, if they burn the inside of the barrel (can't recall what that process is called) then the barrel itself is effectively acting as a carbon filter. Makes for a very clean tasting whisky. I very nearly got a job for a Salmon company in Inverness. Was running their plant on contract in Wiltshire. Last thing I wanted was to move to Inverness at the start of winter, but kind of fancied an all expenses paid trip up there, so went along with it. Anyway, they use old whisky barrels to smoke a particular smoked salmon. Chip the barrels - feck - the aroma of the woodchips is next level. A heady combination of whisky, ethanol, port and red wine.

I’m worried about you, GO30. I think a few of us need to launch an intervention and literally get you launched back out on the water again, for some levelling up… 😊 Rural now 97% sorted after a couple of big weeks. One big long stay paddock left to finish resto on, started fencing last evening and just in time for the havens to open.
To be honest after my stint as a Club big cheese which had me right in the middle of many shitfights for survival of Auckland yachting/boating (which I'm still in to a smaller degree), much of them as part of a very small bunch who got fuck all support from the boaters we were scrapping for, I got over boats and until recently was fine not going near any.
But now my desire to do a couple of things with the MHAH30 has me looking forward to getting her wet again in a few weeks.

It was forecast awful for today & tomorrow then improving Sun onwards. So like many people I’m planning on going out on Sun for a couple of days.
But so far today is very not awful. What’s going on? I hope the bad stuff hasn’t just slowed down and will arrive Sun / Mon instead? I’m hoping it has abated.

Anchored in Waiere Bay, just around the corner, seems best place to be for NW going W going SW. All the PW models seem to line up, going to be crappy this evening until early Sunday morning (when we plan to sail back to Kawau Bay) when it eases off to a nice SW and the following days looking like motor boat weather

Yes I’m happy to see it’s now kicking off here at GH which looks more promising for the big ease forecast for Sunday morning to actually happen.
No sign of things cooling down yet though.

Not really cruising this weekend but staying on the boat in BOI on the mooring to install the Ogo loo . Been on the cards for awhile but one of the crew accidentally used the broken electric shitter last week at bay week . Had a hell of a time getting it going enough to pump out the goods and ordered the Ogo the next day . Many thanks to GO30 to putting me onto it quite a few months back .

It obviously fits in the old space? I have a Natures head. Very pleased with it so far. No more blockages. Heaps of storage capacity and no smell. The emptying bit probably won't be too much fun but small price to pay for all the pro's.

Have had an airhead at home but the girls didn’t like the handle turning or the pee bottle overflowing so didn’t bother putting one in the old boat . The 9 litre pee tank on the Ogo should be ample plus it has a light to avoid overflows . It’s not a perfect solution but I think it’s a better solution than carting raw sewerage in stinky tanks . yes it will fit where the other one is but will overhang the ledge it sits on by about 50mm but that’s no biggy

That removes the pee tank completely.

Had good comms from the chap selling them and 3 day delivery from ordering . If I had a mate in Oz or the USA I could’ve got around the geo block . But heck no more blockages and one less outrageously priced service kit to purchase so I’m happy .
Unfortunately the Ogo is just a wee bit lower than the waterline so can’t plumb it overboard without getting technical . I had to install it slightly differently than I intended because the feckin heads door wouldn’t shut 🤦♂️ Classic oversight . Never mind it’s only a few steps to the Stbd head and it can get tipped in there . Apart from the door cluster it actually went very smoothly . We will drop a few nuggets in there over the next couple of days and report back .

If pushed or someone had the desire you could probably drain into a wee holding tank that has a float switch and pump.
Let us know the time frame between empties of the 2 options. I suppose it'll depend on usage but some idea would be handy. I'm reconsidering a Ogo again as the one I'd prefer, a Sun-Mar, is proving trickier than expected. I could run a Ogo pee drain into a soak hole on the home paddock easily, hence why I knew about it. We're currently using a cassette one and just within the 2 of us that works well and lasts 10odd days between empties, I drilled a 500mm x 2000mm hole and it gets poured into that and composts away. It would be nice to remove that emptying if possible.

It’s blowing way harder than forecast for the last 24hrs.
It’s due to drop off tomorrow but they said that about today…

well it must be summer, arrived home on Tuesday after 2 weeks away and did not need a panga knife to find the house, the lawns had hardly grown and the usual cracks are appearing in the ground as it dries out. Hope it lasts for another couple of months.
