And boot camp isnt going to work.Be like saying all 16yrs must do national service. It will somewhere be against human rights,Marks comments didnt inspire any confidence.
Bit like Judith Collins and her car crushing, did one car as a publicity stunt.

today at her countdown my wife saw 2 guys walking out through the self-checkout with boxes of beer
no one tried to stop them
apparently last week? one of the countdown workers tackled someone leaving without paying, he was sacked for breaking regulations
apparently his 10 years working at countdown count for nothing and he can never work there again
are we moving in the right direction with crime?

The 100day programme not looking good is it? Nothing positive coming out of the coalition.

Interesting story. I'd hope Mark Mitchell is spitting tacs Couple of tourists touring on 2 nice big motorcycles stop at a mates bach at Nuhaka. Local mob nicks one of the bikes from behind the house, ride it up and down the street infront of them, then start doing throat slitting and slow drive buys in a big blacked out 4x4. All police can do is escort the tourist out of town. Wont lay charges or deal with the mob. In a civil society, I'd expect the cops to turn the "mob affiliated" house over and smash everything, err, looking for evidence. There is one thing not pressing charges, it is another to let the incident go without any blowback at all. PS, the tourists have a give a little page for their wrecked bike. www.rnz.co.nz/news/national/509728/we-were-hiding-in-the-house-feeling-absolutely-threatened-traveller-s-motorbike-stolen-and-stripped

mark and ginny on zb this morning and ginny showed just how 1 dimensional she is clearly she didn't know much of what she was talking about but as mark had worked, had a company? doing security? in mogadishu for the UN, protecting food deliveries etc. along with shearershe was adamant that she, and by extension the modern woke voter, held him responsible for the deaths of mogadishu gang members that attacked food convoys clearly under an operation run by her, the gangsters would have been rewarded and the non-gangsters left to starve kind of makes sense that she thinks that way, as that short-sightedness blinds labour here and now toowww.msn.com/en-nz/news/other/labour-s-ginny-andersen-claims-police-minister-was-paid-to-kill-people-while-working-in-private-security-overseas/ar-BB1iBq9xHe pointed to work he had done such as opening mass graves with scientists from The Hague gathering evidence for the war crimes trial of Saddam Hussein.
“When you’re opening mass graves and you’re finding the remains of babies clinging to mums, it’s a pretty clear reminder of the atrocities which were taking place. That was a very, very tough job for everyone involved. Instead of questioning why we were there, all it does is provide more resolve in terms of knowing there had to be changes made.”

In our area we have a “community constable “ and I suspect that’s what Wairoa has , probably with kids in the local school etc and probably has ties to the area . Not making excuses just adding some context as to maybe why the “police “ were reluctant to get involved .

Not making excuses just adding some context as to maybe why the “police “ were reluctant to get involved . Oh, absolutely. It's a half hour drive between Wairoa and Nuhaka, assuming the roads are actually open. (but as a comparison, you'd struggle to get 1/4 the way across Auckland, or possibly even across one suburb in half an hour) And I doubt Wairoa has a substantial police presence. The issue is consequences. If gangs, or anyone for that matter, are allowed to act with impunity, they will be emboldened even more. They will dominate the community and take what they want from other residents and baches. Possibly the worst thing for these perpetrators is front age news coverage, although I expect they think is is fantastic for their 'Mana'. I would hope that given Mark Mitchell's fighting words pre election, the District Commander sees fit to send a team up from Napier CIB and turn the place over looking for evidence of the reported crime. I'm sure if they take a look, there will be other things they can ping these guys on. Drugs is the obvious, but stolen property, possibly guns. If push comes to shove unwarranted or registered cars. Crims don't normally like intense Police attention. If Mitchell is true to his word, I'd expect to see some sort of follow up story in a week or so, that individuals residing in Nuhaka have been charged with some peripheral offence.
