Not so easy at all. Everyone has a right to join a Gang if they want. There is no law against that. Joining a Gang does not make you a criminal. The fact that a high percentage of Gang members are involved in Criminal Activities is a completely different/separate point. Besides schooner, aren't most of your posts about calling for Freedom of rights and Freedon of speech etc etc? You can't have it one way to suit yourself and the other way when it doesn't. By the way, we also have some really nasty Asian Gangs in NZ as well. I don't have any experience with them at all. Know nothing about them. I am surprised we don't have more News Stories of Suit cases with Bodies being found in the Harbor.

Scouts. Where coming home one night form a cub meeting and was greeted, by what could only be described as an unsavory looking guy."nice colours bro" was all that was said.

the media messaging is very careful at the moment
saying the home-invasion, machete attack and murder weren't "random"
it that the new way to say 'gang-related'?
without upsetting those fine upstanding citizens who haven't assaulted or threatened anyone this month?
(or at least it can't be PROVEN have extremely recently acted illegally)
can we then say protests against this gov. also aren't 'random'?
...
welcome to language so butchered
it can mean anything to anyone
thank you universities
for producing more tax-payer funded $200,000 gov. spin drs than we have journalists
making the waters murkier everyday
oh, the wailing and the gnashing of teeth over the loss of trust in all levels of lying gov.
never mind
our politburo have a sort'of'plan
which we are careening along

This new trend for replacing single words with mumbo-jumbo alternatives is actually a great thing that makes me very happy.
Eg. I am delighted to hear we no longer have drownings in NZ. Ok, so there have been a few “water-related deaths” recently but don’t worry people those are nowhere near as bad as drownings. Honestly.
Just like the “non-random killings” are much better than gang murders.
And no doubt as we enter 2022 we will all be relieved to hear that we no longer have fatal car crashes in NZ but we do now have “transport-related life-shortening events”.
And Covid will simply become a bad cold. But wait, isn’t it….? 😊

Yes the Firepower is changing and the Police have been concerned about this for awhile now. This is because the Arms are being smuggled in along with the drugs from the land of "My constitutional right to carry a big arse Gun". The ole shawn off is becoming a relic of the past. That is what the small time offenders use. I am not really sure where this is going to end up in NZ. We all know what it is like in the US, they have armed nutters on both sides of the law. For Oz, it was just big enough to allow the Gangs to have a decent slice of territory each and not infringe too much on each other. NZ is too small, there are far too many very serious Gangs and the Drugs are worth huge money. A few years back we saw a some of the more common Gangs in NZ repatch some others, or run some smaller chapters out of Town. They jostled around abit and settled again, but these Gangs really were only playing int the Sandpit. Now we have some real big names here with major overseas contact/supply and they play for keeps. From discussions with a few of my Cop friends, they suspect some big power play is going to be seen here soon.
Aside from the gangs themselves, another area we have seen a major change, is the seriously dangerous situations People are getting involved in to obtain drugs. It used to be small time dealers and most people were fairly "safe"(as in you didn't pay with your life) buying. But that is all changing, to where People now deal with those that will make you "disapear" if you fail to pay up or a deal's gone wrong. The entire scene has changed out there and we are now seeing this in NZ with shootings and People going missing in strange ways and so on. The real big problem is that we have a lot of very neive kids that don't understand that.

Being Kind = gang expansion
Emptying jails = gang expansion.
Advising Judges to issue more lenient sentences inorder to reduce prison numbers = gang expansion.
Government sponsored Maori " wonderfulness" Sponsorship (2.75 million to gangs) = gang expansion.
Lenient policing of gang road usage = gang expsnsion.
Labours many Hui's with gangs = Gang expansion
Gang expansion = increased violent crimes, more youth joining = compounding crime rates.
I Hold Labour , led by the Maori caucus via Donkey Chops 100% accountable. End of.

But I think this is only half the story. Your points above only address the conditions for making life easy vs difficult for established gangs to operate.
As well as this you need to consider why people are wanting to join gangs in the first place. If there was no pipeline of vulnerable kids looking for a cause in life and a sense of belonging, then gangs would decline no matter how soft the Govt. We also need to consider ways to reduce demand to join gangs as well as making it unattractive once you’re in one.
