With all the hype of foiling AC yachts it really is a flop,on here and over there,friends/family. Yeah we won but the cup wont be here, move on. Still to watch last 3 races but probably wont.

Woww, while the current AC I find not very different to that old DOS ping pong game or tennis but without the hot chicks to perv on while they bash the ball, I thought I was in a minority. But over the last few days the general 'Blaa, over it and don't care if I never see it again' like comments are not quite global but far far closer to nearly everyone than I thought. Even a couple of seriously hard core fans expressed HoHum which surprises me.
Listening it seems Dalton and his call to go for the bucks is a huge input into that. The craft are technically very interesting but they make crap racing is common as well. There is also a number that regard the AC as being 'butchered for the bucks' and moved too far away from it's history.
The lack of appetite to see it back in NZ at the moment is also far larger than I would have expected.
Never really saw that coming.

Only watched the final race. The entire regatta didn't really interest me.

Best cup for me was Perth in '86, because there was great sailing which I saw first hand and it was the best career move I made leaving NZ and getting into the Australian resources sector. That being said, the cliff hanger last race in Newport in 1983 is something I will never forget.

Perth rocked and would have to be in the best of reel and well up near the top if not the top.
News is saying Valencia is trying real hard for the next Cup. I see Dalton has started setting the stage to take it from Barcelona by saying it's now too small. It seemed fine a week ago.

I see Dalton has started setting the stage to take it from Barcelona by saying it's now too small. It seemed fine a week ago. As Dalts can can only twist it in his favour. Spain said no hosting it again! www.rnz.co.nz/news/sport/531753/barcelona-won-t-host-next-america-s-cup-reportThe split between the city council and Team New Zealand came after the local government told Dalton that it would not repeat the investment in the competition, according to La Vanguardia newspaper. The event has cost Catalan taxpayers almost $100 million, of which $55 million came from the Catalan government, $18 million from the city council, and $9 million from the Diputació de Barcelona, among others. The Catalan News said the 'No to the America's Cup' group welcomed the departure of the competition from Barcelona. "This elitist competition, which has not attracted the interest of locals and has required enormous public expenditure justified by false figures, will not be held in Barcelona again," they said in a statement. The campaign, which included 140 organizations, recently filed a complaint with the Anti-Fraud Office of Catalonia, requesting it investigates the public funds allocated to the event.

I bet GD wasn't happy to hear them say that out loud.
