Another ,"kind" Ardern milestone.
The rapid speed Ardern is destroying NZ is unbelievable to everyone except her

Here in the UK last time I looked fuel was was $1 more per litre for petrol, and diesel . Speaking to the relatives electricity has nearly doubled in price , gas has gone through the roof . I’ve driven past many under construction subdivisions and only some of the houses have builders working . One of the relly’s is a property developer and has the same problems with getting supplies and labour plus the councils are very very slow in processing “planning permission” . The real estate market has stalled too apparently , ambulance services are in crisis because the hospitals are jammed so they sit outside for hours waiting to offload patients ….getting rid of Boris didn’t do shit for the economy here .
So I doubt a change of government in NZ is going to do feck all unless a huge oil deposit is found in epsom or somewhere equally handy

How about changing the govt just to eliminate the...
Wasted billions that are driving inflation
The racial division
The mismanagement of the economy, health system, education, policing, oil and gas industry, the housing junkets, fire arms distribution, ... Every fucking thing....

I'm pretty sure the Government has been receiving good sound advice and analysis all along, on all issues, it seems to pop out after a suitably long wait for the response to an official information request. What happens with the advice is that it gets discarded in favour of a woke ideology produced by some communist fanatics.
To expect the Govt to now start following sound wisdom and advice is expecting a little too much, a doubling down on the failed path is more likely. On top of that with Labour, the vote buying process usually kicks into full gear about a year out, that overrides any possible long term good for the economy or society policy implementation, no matter how obvious or necessary.

Can’t believe I’m saying this but a small bit of me almost wishes for a short & sharp recession in NZ to give our sleepy business sector a much-needed wake up call. We all know that with demand outstripping supply it has become virtually impossible to source good products & services reliably and consistently. Too many businesses have had it so good for so long that they’ve got lazy & complacent about competing to impress the customer. All too often, as a customer, you’re made to feel like an inconvenience to their ‘lifestyle business’.
And we have a whole generation of our workforce who has never experienced economic hardship in business.
Yes we’ve had a bumpy ride through Covid but many businesses received enough handouts to weather that fine (I know there have been exceptions in travel & hospitality especially). But elsewhere business has been thriving and continues to do so - despite looming inflation.
If a short & sharp recession made NZ business a bit ‘hungrier’ to win and retain customers with great service - then that would not be a bad outcome.
And let the lazy businesses fail and release their staff to better opportunities to learn how to operate better.

Somewhere in that chart is Ukraine, apparently disruption there can upset the whole worlds economic system.

The bit that needs recession and a wake up call is Local and Central Govt.bureaucracies.Remember they are monopoly suppliers who can and do charge what they like for services that you have no choice in. We,the people have become their servants.

Govt depts don’t experience recession. In fact the opposite. Smart govts increase their activity and spending in a recession to offset the decline in private sector activity - to help keep the economy active. And then they (should) reverse that when the private sector recovers.
In other words their role should be to get out of the way in the good times and step in with some long-term infrastructure investment in the bad times - to keep the economy stable.
Wishful thinking in NZ.

Somewhere in that chart is Ukraine, apparently disruption there can upset the whole worlds economic system. Ukraine has had a multiplier effect well beyond their usual direct area of impact. 1. Food supply uncertainty (notably grain) 2. Fuel supply uncertainty (notably cost) 3. Massive increase for rest of the world Ukraine doesn’t feed or fuel the world but the war has created a multiplier effect as if it did.
